This hotel is in a great location, right on the beach, close to lots of restaurants and shoppes. There are games to play in the lobby, which is fun. The only issue I had was that it is a smoke-free property however there were clearly people smoking on our floor, which made our stay less comfortable. Also, in the lobby, they would leave the sliding door open and people would stand right in the entry way and smoke constantly, making the entire lobby, including the bar and games area super smoky, which we found off-putting and nauseating. Unfortunately, the smoking everywhere was the one negative of our experience.

The Upstairs hotel was a very stylish and fun hotel just steps from the beach. The staff was really friendly and helpful! One small point is if you do book one of the small/cheap rooms, they aren't easily accessible via the lifts. You will need to go down a couple of flights of stairs which can be tough with heavy luggage. Otherwise I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Ostend!

I booked at noon for the night. One hour later I receive a call that my payment was refused... In the train there was nothing I could do apart of paying at arrival... At the check in I had to pay 30 euro more... For a room where the shower is switching on every 5 minutes and a TV that switches off at the same pace... And to finish I be been awaken by a crazy cleaning machine ... What a hell

I was able to book my room extremely last minute, and the price was amazing and when I got to the room, it was gorgeous with two balconies on the very top floor. I could not be happier with this booking. I would’ve stayed the whole week if I knew about it earlier.

A nice hotel very close to the beach. As a previous reviewer said, it has a contemporary industrial feel to it (think black metal shelving & concrete grey industrial vibes) but with yellow pops of color (towels and toiletries). There is a large yellow children’s slide in the lower lobby area that seemed to be a big hit w/ families. Positives: —Friendly and helpful front desk —Very convenient location— many restaurants nearby and a supermarket one block over. —Breakfast was great, would recommend—make sure to tell the front desk the night before if you plan to have breakfast in the hotel. —No parking attached to the hotel but ample paid parking just around the corner, approximately 25 Euro’s per 24 hours, which is fairly normal for secure and centrally located parking in major European cities. Minor Downsides: —Cleaning could have been a little better— some dust on the shelving that stood out on the black shelving, but nothing major. —There is no telephone in the room (which can be a hassle if you need to get in touch w/ the front desk) —There is no coffee machine or hot water kettle to make a cup of coffee or tea, so plan ahead if that is important to you. Overall a nice place to stay— would recommend for the quick access to the beach, friendly vibe, and great breakfast.

Hotel is quite new so everything was still new. The room was very spacious but the bed was not very comfortable. Note that there is a fridge but no coffee n tea facilities. Breakfast was worth it with a good variety. The slide was fun for my 5year old kid. The location is near the beach.

Nice and trendy new property in town. Clean and confortable. Missing water in the room or tea/coffee maker to enhance the stay. Service at the Restaurant / Bar not very efficient. Good check in / check out process.

We stayed for one night. Ate in the attached restaurant. It was quite pricey but Belgium is generally. The family room was just what we needed with enough privacy and space. Clean and comfortable. The communal facilities were exceptional and my teenage boys had a great time playing ping pong and sliding down the shute. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. A friendly and fun hotel to stay in. We’ll be back!

Great location, shame does not have local free parking or a subsidized parking but the hotel staff was really helpful in suggesting a convenient location to park.The hotel has been recently refurbished and has some good modern features. The room was spacious for a short stay and comfortable.Quiet location very close to the beach.Only negative is the restaurant service that is advertised even in the room, but probably because out of high season, seems completely optional to follow by the restaurant staff, we were turned away at 20.30 when the restaurant should have closed at 22.
