Recurring stay at this no nonsense accommodation in central Calais. Quirky rooms, individual designs. Owner is converting it into apartments so sadly, only a few years left to stay here. Parking on the street is free and safe or you can park securely for a few euros. Wife and I love this place and have been visiting here 20 years regularly.

I don't think this place should be called a hotel. The "lobby" is a bare hallway, there are no staff, even though the reviews mention them, the whole building is being renovated and halls, stairs etc. are wooden and noisy. We thought we had booked a balcony room but didn't get one. There is a hand held shower only over the bath and apologetic notices everywhere about the work. Large bed, comfortable and clean. A very basic, very central stay with free parking outside, very close to restaurants and art museum. If your priority is a bargain then you will be happy. We were glad only one other couple seemed to be staying. Stiff climb to out 3rd floor room so not for everyone.

I didn't actually stay at the hotel. I booked 2 weeks in advance and the day before I was due to travel I was sent a text informing me that they would be closed on the night of my stay and that I should book somewhere else.

Friendly welcome from Benoît, who is engaged in the long term project of singlehandedly upgrading the entire hotel. My room was certainly lovely, with a magnificent bath and a very comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean. Good wifi, and power points where you need them! Nice location opposite the Parc Richelieu and easy parking. Everything within easy walking distance. Excellent value.

We have stayed at Hotel Richelieu several times it is in a great location for restaurants and bars whilst staying in Calais and it's very near to the ferry port and the tunnel. The owner is renovating the hotel himself and each time we visit it is lovely to see the progress he is making it is, however, work in progress but it's great value for an overnight stay.

The stay was very comfortable. We had a travel disruption due to a ferry strike, and the hotel manager has been extremely helpful in guiding us to sort out new travel arrangements.

Stayed overnight before getting the shuttle back to UK. This is a regular trip and we have stayed in most of the chain hotels in Calais and the surrounding area. This was the first time in the hotel and we were satisfied with the experience. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and it is clear that work on the landings and corridors was in progress. They were however clean and tidy. Our room was warm, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Large bathroom with bath. There was a kettle,cups and some tea and coffee, no milk. Free wi-fi available in the room. Many English channels on the TV.Dining room, for breakfast, was pleasant and breakfast (continental) was plentiful and good quality. Some secure parking available. If you are concerned about leaving cars with valuable cargo parked on the street book the secure parking well in advance.

The hotel was being refurbished in part but the location was fantastic, there was secure parking to the rear, the staff were incredible helpful and the hotel was charming although a bit shabby around the edges which we liked.

This hotel has a huge benefit for motorcyclists - secured off-street parking! The hotel has a uniquely fitted claw foot bathtub. The location is in close proximity to all that Calais has to offer. It is just a few steps to food, drink and fun. The hotel is in a state of renovation... this did not bother us as it has a lot of old character. If you are looking for polished, you might want to go elsewhere. We will be back for another stay.
