    We had a great stay at the Hilton Edinburgh. The location is fantastic and close to everything touristy, the staff and service were excellent throughout our visit, always attentive and helpful. The one big downside: the hotel has no parking/valet of its own and you can’t even pull up out front to load or unload luggage since it’s a bus lane. The nearest parking option is the train station nearby, which sounds convenient on paper but isn’t in practice. Hauling large luggage from the station to the hotel involves many flight of stairs and a noticeable uphill, making for a tough and frustrating start (and end) to the trip. It took us over 30mins to reach the hotel from the station, which apart from the difficult walk with luggage on pebbled streets, involved going up steep 50plus stairs! 3 day parking at the train station, after hotel discount was around gbp 60. Would happily stay again, but if you’re arriving by car, plan ahead for drop-off and parking

    Building works taking place inside and outside of hotel. Loud noises in area above our room started just before 7am in the morning and was exremely loud at 8.30am with scaffolders etc outside. Workers walking about on scaffolding directly outside window. Horrible smell in room.

    First room wasn’t cleaned properly - there’s a dental gloss left in the bathroom and dried up contact lens. We got swapped to another room with no views. Paid too much for what we had. The only potential thing is the location.
