Mallard s Retreat

A lovely quiet location with fantastic views. Everything needed for a peaceful retreat. Our host was friendly and welcoming.

Didn't have breakfast. Peaceful location. Had everything inside that was needed.

There are many excellent reviews on here for this property so dont want to run it down in any way but just a couple of things I feel I want to say. I think a sun parasol would of been nice as sun was too hot to sit outside. I got stung a couple of times when stood at fence to take in the gorgeous views with stinging nettles that were our side of the fence. Fly curtains would be a nice thing to have because we had an infestation of them. I know we were on a farm with animals but honestly there were dozens of them and one must of managed to lay eggs in the little food bin because we had maggots and we left no food laying about. I had to de scale the kettle too I'm afraid. Im not being picky because it was a lovely place to stay. Bed and towells were clean. I would recommend this property but just go prepared.

The kitchen facilities were extremely good, including the pans which were high quality. The hoover was extremely good as well. The bedding was very comfortable and soft including the sofa in the living room. The outside has chairs etc which were comfy. The living room and bedroom have ceiling fans. The accommodation was worth the price and surrounded by fields which was pleasant, and able to watch the sheep etc

During the heatwave on Thursday (29/6) the accommodation was extremely hot even with the ceiling fans on and windows open. However, the heatwave couldn’t be helped but I recommended the owner investing in an air conditioner.

I never heard a word from the host or saw her she never bothered to email text or come to say hello and check if everything was ok even though she lives on the premises there was only one wine glass and it was badly cracked there were no sharp knives the cooker heating control doesnt show any temperature
