Perfect place to stay and enjoy Dorset

Such a perfect stay! The shepherds hut is in a lovely location and has everything you could need. It’s so cosy and inviting, we felt right at home and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The hosts were very responsive and kindly put the heating on for our arrival in freezing conditions! A great view to wake up to and the neighbouring towns are lovely to explore, with plenty of cafes and walks.

Beautiful quiet rural location and cosy and comfortable private accommodation. Very clean and with all the facilities you'd expect for self-catering. Great communication from the host, and easy to find, despite the secludion.

Lovely cottage feel stay for a couple attending a wedding

Very clean, had all the utensils we could require for convenient dinner / breakfast. Love the cottage feel aesthetics was decorated lovely through out and the fairy lights made it feel very cozy

A very handy spot which I shall probably use again for the purpose I needed it for.

I liked the location and the quirkiness. It suited me for what I needed and was private. For a couple of nights while I attended an event off-site it was very handy. The bed was larger than I expected and the hot water was almost instant. The shower was good, and the heating (when needed) worked quickly.

As an oldie, the bed was a little high to get onto, but it had storage underneath which was essential in such a small space. However, I managed and it was fine for one. I would have struggled if I had had to share the space (and the bed) with my husband!

Comfy Shepherds hut

We liked the interior layout and the very comfortable bed. We also found the information leaflet by the owners very useful. We also liked the fact that it was in easy walking distance to The Crown pub . 👍

Nothing at all ... though it did take a little while to work out the wall heater, but i don't consider that a dislike.

Shepherd's hut by an orchard..

Everything we needed was supplied. Quiet location: lovely to open the door and look out over the fields. Comfortable bed. Dedicated space to park the car. Useful information sheets. Not a criticism, but a thought: perhaps an EV charger could be fitted to the side of the carport.

It would have been useful to have a fuller guide to the combi-microwave. I found all the controls rather confusing.

Rural shepherd hut.

Clean, tidy & well equiped Exactly what we expected from the description and photos. Easy contactless access with info from email prior to visit. Compact but had everything we needed. Nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the sunset. Quiet spot at end of gravel drive with fields and trees opposite. Close footpath giving access to nearby village and easy walk back along road if you'd prefer it.

Nothing for us. Would be snug in cold/ bad weather but still good value as long as you have realistic expectations of what a sheperd hut does (and does not) offer.

A perfect, cosy bolthole

I had to be in the neighbourhood for a funeral so I chose this as a little delight rather than just a sensible option. Perfect for me. Delightful style. Everything I needed

Good location 15 min from a nice pub - very quiet at night - everything supplied like fresh milk and coffee grounds with cafetière etc - comfy bed

Lovely cute hut, everything was good, milk in the fridge on arrival and perfect for our night away.

Very clean and tidy, instructions were good and lovely shower , perfect for our night away

Only thing I would say it’s because of the extreme heat it was very hot in the hut so a fan would have been perfect.

Nice stay, but put off by the lack of cleanliness, the mildew, and the overwhelming fusty smell.

Cute little Shepard's Hut in a quiet, green location. Good facilities - small hob, fridge, microwave, crockery, utensils, washing up liquid and cloths, tea, coffee, sugar, TV, shower, etc. Nice, friendly pub a short walk away.

Cleanliness - on the surface, the hut is swept, the bathroom and kitchen have been wiped over, and the sheets are clean, etc. However, the place needs a deep clean to remove dust, dirt and mildew. The dust on the bed frame was disgusting, the fairy lights were covered in a thick layer of dust, the chairs were dusty and dirty, the window sill was covered in dead flies and dust, the corners of the bathroom/shower were dirty and had mildew growth, the main door to the hut had mildew growing in the corners and grooves, there was grated cheese from someone else's lunch on the table under the mats when we arrived, and the smell of mildew was overpowering.

The shepherds hut was lovely ,bed very comfortable.

The situation of the hut wasn’t for us the other side of the fence was the track leading to the main house.When Tesco delivery came they had to reverse asking us to move our car.It was a good job we weren’t out for a walk.

Excellent stay, would definitely recommend and would love to come back again

Very easy to find, parking right next to the hut, lovely views over the fields, very quiet. Fabulously comfortable bed, hot and powerful shower. Local pub in one direction and amazing cafe serving the best breakfast in the other - perfect!

Plates and bowls were chipped on the edges, maybe a rubber liner in the sink would prevent this in the future?

A lovely and memorable experience

We loved staying here. The interior is compact but beautifully designed. The setting is gorgeous, the bed is comfortable, and the shower is amazing. We’ve stayed in expensive hotels where the shower has been nothing compared to this! The food at the local pub was great; tip - if you’re walking, go across the field to the left of the property which brings you to the high street in 5-7 minutes. Overall a lovely and memorable experience.

Lovely hut, excellent location, would recommend!

Very cute, excellent location! Had dinner and a glass of wine at the outdoor table provided outside the hut overlooking a stunning sunset. Lots of beautiful paths for hikes and walks from the hut, loved it!

The only downside was a little bit of noise from I think the boiler at night, otherwise nothing negative to say.

Ideal romantic getaway for a couple

Perfect stay! we live locally, 30 mins down the road but needed to escape home life for a weekend and reset and this stay did exactly that for us! It was so comfortable and cosy! The crown in marnhull was a short walk away, through a field just beside the hut! The views were lovely!

Lovely cozy countryside getaway!

My friend and I were looking for a cozy night away in the countryside for a much needed girly catch up, and that is exactly what we got! Lovely hut, with a very cozy bed, and outside seating to soak up the evening sun. Only a short walk away from the local pub which serves decent food. Would definitely come back again!

Had all that I needed for my stay.as I was there for work I cannot comment on the area although the location looked very nice.the stay was nice and peaceful.The accommodation was very clean.

I enjoyed staying in the hut, it was beautiful but I would prefer somewhere more private.

The standard and attractiveness of the hut.

That the electric supply remained on. There were a couple of outages. Peter came quickly to sort it out. I contacted the hosts the night that I arrived but couldn’t get through. As I was arriving, there was a delivery lorry backing down the tiny track in front of the hut, requiring me to back out. I didn’t know there’s a private drive in front of the hut. The next morning, people walked past the within a few feet of the windows and front door.

A hidden gem perfect for visiting Marnhull, Sturminster Newton and Shaftesbury.

Excellent stay in this beautiful little shepherds hut, perfectly located for our stay in Dorset visiting family and exploring the local area. The hut is private facing out onto a large field with spectacular views of the countryside. We'd love to return for the summer as a fire pit, deck chairs and table chairs are all available for use. Though we stayed in the colder season, the hut was warm with electric heating and an additional oil heater available if needed. The hut has a private bathroom, kitchenette with 2 hobs, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster & sink. The bed is extremely comfy with a good quality mattress and pillows. The TV has freeview and smart apps allowing you to sign in to Netflix, etc for the evenings in and WiFi is available. We didn't get a chance to meet the hosts face to face but Peter was available via text and phone and answered all our questions quickly. We're looking forward to our next stay.

Could have been better

Lovely setting, quiet, and nice views of an orchard. Lovely village, shower very powerful. Toilet roll provided and a nice gesture as was a little milk in the fridge.

The cleanliness of the property was not good. Arriving to a dirty baby wipe/tissue on the table. Thick dust in corners of bed area, thick dust on back of tv. Cobwebs everywhere, we did not finish our stay unfortunately and left a night early to go home which was a real shame. Kettle was full of limescale and generally needed a deep clean.
