Calderside Cottage (2 BDR Central Hebden Bridge)

Lovely looking cottage as we walked in and good location

After spending some time there ,we found things that spoilt it , didn't ruin anything,but an inconvenience and annoyance.Thing would have had I 10/10 otherwise! Distinct lack of lamps and mood lighting. We had to have main lights on to move around and find things.No lamp in one bedroom and one in smaller bedroom,but couldn't turn on and off without getting out of bed. No sockets or extension next to bed for iPad/ phone ( so not able to listen to my audio book at night.) part of my holiday routine. The small bedroom smelt fusty and worse all towels smelt fusty ( very unpleasant) Lack of kitchen equipment,no small pan plus other things.Ok for the two nights and mainly eating out,but if 4 people there for a week,would be a big problem. Outside front lighting would be a bonus, especially for seeing key box and steps.We didn't use the terrace,as after trying once,the steps were far too many,too steep and dark ,very daunting for the less mobile or elderly. Had a small dog with us also ,so not able to get up those steps without carrying her( too much for me) aged65! We thought the terrace was accessible from the kitchen . Also front garden not actually enclosed,as open plan to neighbour,who had no gate and straight onto surprisingly busy road. All in all , pretty,clean and great location to canal toll path and town. But could be much improved and Damp towels and lack of lighting is not acceptable. Very steep wooden steps to outside terrace should be made more apparent on description,it's was of main reasons we booked this cottage to find we could not use it was a big disappointment 😞 I needed to phone owner once,and have to say he answered quickly and was very pleasant and helpful. Lovely place,if you are fit and only a short stay

Kitchen area was well stocked. Beds comfortable . Quite convenient for town centre Quiet despite being near road and railway No time to use outdoor area but looked fun

One of the blinds in the front bedroom was broken. The freezer needed defrosting. It was quite dark at the back of the property because of the wall- maybe needed more lights . Parking was tricky but neighbours accommodating

Easy location to walk into the town. House more spacious than expected. Beautiful house. Very comfy. Very likely we'll return.

All was great.

Location was good. Fire in hearth could have been cleaner, electric candles would have made it cosier. Just little touches,really

Bed linen, fencing on stairs to terrace., little bit wider selection of glasses and crockery.
