the place is very in the center of the old town, which makes it easy to go everywhere without needing a car

the lively bars and restaurants around the property play loud music all night until late so if you want to rest it’s not the ideal place

If the Deluxe Double Room with Balcony is available during your dates, you MUST book it! This is room#202 at the top level. The view is simply amazing and it was honestly very hard to leave. I loved waking up to the view of the lake and sitting out on the patio late afternoon. Great people watching to the street below. There's also room#201 right next door (Double Room with Balcony) but 202 is the "Deluxe" category and has the better patio. It's actually the same patio for both rooms but there is a big partion between the rooms for privacy so you can't see your neighbor and they can't access your side. I was considering three other apartments that were higher up in the hills with more sweeping lake views. However, after I climbed to the castle one day and passed by a few of these other apartments, I was thankful I didn't book them. The steep steps with the heat of summer would make it nearly unbearable. I can't imagine having to walk down to the seafront every time you want to go to the supermarket, ATM, get ice cream, go to the boat dock or dine at a restaurant. It's very inconvenient & not worth it. Villa Afrodita is the PERFECT location, right at sea level at the beginning of the old city right in the mix of everything. FYI: There are 34 steps to get to the top floor and there is no elevator. As for the room, it looks freshly updated with a good, modern lighting system and a contemporary bathroom. The mattress comfort was average/acceptable. AC, Wi-Fi & hot water worked perfectly. Two bottles of water are provided. If you're staying more than a couple of nights, I recommend buying your own toilet paper & body wash as the bottles that are provided are small. There is a supermarket just down the street. Owner was very responsive when I needed something. I only met him and his wife once but they were both very kind. They own the pearl shop at ground level underneath the apartments.

You will read about noise in other reviews. I can confirm that the noise is worse than I thought especially at nighttime mostly 11pm-1am. This is not the owner's fault! There is a night club nearby on the water that blasts music until about 1am. The noise and pumping music can be unbearable. The patio doors are high quality double pane but they cannot block the decibel level of noise from the night club. Ear plugs didn't help. Luckily, I had Bose noise canceling ear pods and amazingly, those got rid of 99% of the noise. This was the only way to sleep. By the way, the night club had loud music every night of the 4 nights that I stayed. I came during the busiest part of the summer. There is also a lot of obnoxious noise in the mornings before 7am from deliveries and nearby restaurants. You can mitigate the noise as I described above but if noise is non-negotiable for you, stay somewhere else perhaps at sea level but outside of old town.

The location - in the old town, close to everything. A little bit of noise from local bars but to be expected given the location. The property itself - new/modern, clean & comfortable. The view - incredible views of the lake and part of the old town. Free Parking - getting to the property by car meant a challenging drive through the old town, wouldn’t recommend it in larger vehicles, but once there free parking was provided a short walk away. Hospitality - staff were very friendly & helpful. The shop underneath is also part of the property and the staff member there was very helpful.
