Very clean. 15 minutes walking to beach. Staff is helpful. Cool roof terrace.

Less than a 10 minute walk from Kamakura Station, I was lucky enough to be on the 9th floor, the same level as the smaller terrace (there’s a bigger rooftop one accessible by stairs fron L9) where I enjoyed calm, quiet evenings with takeaway. I wished the room had floating shelves and wall hooks to put personal belongs. The blinds do not keep out the early summer sunrise, bring an eye mask!!

The bed was okay. The floor was stone but which was kind of uncomfortable. It wasn’t our fave stay but it did the job.

Location was unbeatable as it was very near the train station at Kamakura. Staff members were also friendly and helpful and the availability of self check in and out was convenient. However, I was very concerned of the cleanliness of the space. I understand that the location is on the beach side and as to the season, it can get really dusty. However, you can see from their facilities especially their air conditioners that they do not maintain them well - very dusty and even had molds. As to their beds, I think it was too thin that it was already very uncomfortable to sleep in. It was also my first time to sleep in mixed gender shared rooms and I think it was not organized that well considering the space smelled bad due to absence of rules regarding footwear placement - considering the poor ventilation of the rooms. After staying for four nights, I went home sick probably due to fatigue from traveling but most likely from the very dusty and unclean room as well. While I loved the location so much, I will consider a different hostel the next time I come back due to cleanliness concerns.
