    The staff was quite friendly and welcoming the hotel is located across from the reception building. It was surprisingly very cheap despite you have in your own room with a lock. It has a very friendly atmosphere with a lot of international travelers and there's a cute little guest book where you can write anything or draw pictures.

    I think it's important to mention a few things, especially for female travellers like us: it's not "in the best part of town", and it's directly in front of a homeless shelter. Then, I have to say the guy at the counter was extremely nice and kind. But... It was really bad, the room is soo small, like manga-café-small. The building in which the rooms are smells like smoke and wet dog and has no elevator. As soon as you enter it, you get that feeling where you don't want to touch anything. Lastly... As two female travellers we ended up using the room as a expensive storage locker for our suitcases and moved to a random hotel for the night.

    Stayed with this property for 3 nights and the morning soon after the first night, I experienced runny and clogged nose, and itchy throat. This health condition lasted for about a week. The hostel is on the 4th and 5th floor of an old building without elevator. Cigarette smoke can be smelled all around the hallways all day and night long. The toilet always smells stinky. I chose the western-style room instead of the Japanese one but the bed in the room was a steel folding bed. The bed always creates a creaking sound everytime you move while you're on the bed. Bath towel is not provided but foot towels were available in front of the shower room. Btw, the front desk of the hostel is located in another building just across the street. The hostel is located in an area with many similarly old buildings. The residents are mostly elderly and most are smokers. Cigarette smoke can also be smelled in the general surroundings of the area. Aside from one convenience store around the corner, dining options and shops were hard to find. The general area was really not interesting. In the nearest corner, I saw the pile of garbage not being collected for several days.
