An absolute gem.

An absolute gem. From the warm welcome at the gate to the friendly chat before we left, everything was absolutely perfect with our stay at An Bothan. The homemade bread and jam was a lovely touch and went down a delight with a cup of tea beside the fire as the rain fell outside. Hidden away from the hustle and bustle it is a perfect retreat for a break. All in all a 10/10 experience.

Cosy, relaxed and beautiful surroundings.

The host was so friendly and hospitable. She showed us around the apartment upon arrival (even though we arrived later than expected!) and went above and beyond. She had made fresh bread and jam, which were both lovely, and was very nice to our kids too. Would recommend to anyone looking to visit this part of the country!

Beautiful house with lovely hosts.

Everything - all the rooms are cosy, beautifully refurbished but retaining a quirky modern Irish charm. There is an ensuite as well as a toilet/shower room, both of which have a high level of finish. The kitchen has everything you need. The beds are very comfortable. The views from the garden are beautiful. Last but not least the delicious homemade bread and jam. Lovely hosts who are interesting to talk to and provide leaflets on multiple activities and places to see in the area.

Cosy, welcoming place to stay.

Lovely location near the mountains with local lakes and beaches, and convenient to Dublin airport. A lovely warm welcome with home-made produce and everything in good taste in terms of decor. We stayed as a couple with two school-aged children and had enough space for a family of four. Having two bathrooms was a luxury in that respect! I appreciated the small bookshelf of Irish-interest books.

A find in the Cooley mountains

What a find ,a truly wonderful place to stay with wonderful hosts. The home made brown bread and jam were a lovely unexpected treat as was the secluded location that was so peaceful. The property itself is very well appointed with two beautiful modern bathrooms and a beautiful homely sitting room. The pull out bed was so comfortable and spacious. We loved this little find and will certainly be back .

Cosy cottage. Good facilities

Nice quaint cottage, lovely area surrounded by mountains. Home made loaf left with a local jam. Use of the whole cottage and gardens. Well maintained. Book provided of local activities, food places, bike hire and many taxi firms. Was.able.to.isw.the washing machine, amenities states there is an airer but it's a clothes line outside.

Would have helped if the name of the cottage was outside the gates as pulled up then drove off as Google maps was not keen on the address. Beds were not made up, the booking was for three adults, refers to a futon bed as well as sofa bed, yet only mattress were seen under the double bed and on a high wardrobe. Not sure where an extra bed would have been put up. No instructions for the sofa bed, very uncomfortable even to sit on. The ensuite the drainage is slow for the basin and ahower-still a large puddle on the floor in the morning As the sofa bed was used there needs to be curtains on the doors, kitchen window and skylight (cannot reach the cord to close the blind) as daylight is 4am so unsettled night trying to sleep.as too light. Not sure why two wet rooms one could be a small bedroom.

Home away from home. A special find in a lovely quiet location in a beautiful scenic area.. Everything we needed was provided and the homemade brown bread and jam was delicious. Cosy and comfy cottage in picturesque surroundings. Very relaxing.

The hosts provided us with some lovely homemade bread and jam, which was a very welcome treat! Plenty of great recommendations in the handy guidebook, which directed us to a local fish shop where we could buy more delicious food.

The whole stay exceeded our expectations. Just wish we could have stayed longer!

Make The World Go Away

The "cozy cottage" is secretively located within a private thicket of trees, surrounded by country fields that gently overlook the shimmering sea. Approached via a curving driveway that opens to the manicured cottage grounds with idyllic views, it's delightfully presented. Around back there's a short trail through the wooded grounds with wee folk things and happy birds and fat bees. Inside the cottage is everything one needs to feel and believe they actually live in a forested refuge, and to do so in comfort and style as all facilities are updated including 2 cool showers big enough to twirl in, kitchen essentials, comfortable bed, the toasty fireplace and outdoor patio. Hosts Catriona and Brian are kind and attentive in addition to great conversationalists. With luck (much to be found here), we'll be back soon and often.

That I don't have another 100 years or so to dream about and plan visits to here.

Cozy Stay

It was extremely cute and modern at the same time. We loved that fresh bread and jam was left for us. We loved the location and the little cats around the outside property.

I think one of the shower drains was clogged, but I forgot to mention it to the host. It was fine though.

Charming cottage, beautiful secluded location, wonderful hosts

Traditional old cottage with a modern fit out providing the charm of the Irish rural life with the all the mod cons you need👌🏼 But the best part was the hosts. Felt like I was visiting a relative 💚 Just naturally lovely, informal, welcoming people. We actually arrived on Christmas Day because we were attending a very large family gathering locally. We were greeted with a freshly baked, still warm delicious loaf of homemade brown bread! I doubt they do that for every guest but seeing as though all the shops were closed and we had young kids with us, they clearly wanted to ensure we were well looked after.

I’m a sucker for crisp white sheets and fluffy white towels when I stay somewhere but I imagine they are a nightmare to maintain so I understand why they wouldn’t be in every room I stay in

Lovely cottage, exceptional hosts with over the top amenities, enjoyed our stay so much!

Very clean and tidy cottage, modern facilities, all amenities available (coffee, tea etc.), even women care products in the bathroom. Brian made us delicious brown bread, along with butter and milk, very kind! As well I forgot my jacket, and Caitríona has posted it back to us. Just the kindest hosts we’d stayed with, can’t recommend this place enough! It’s a lovely part of the world, wish we could have stayed longer!

I would only recommend this if many families with babies come to stay, baby chair (eg. Ikea antilop) and travel cot would have been a nice addition, but we managed just fine without it :)

Kitchen had all the items you have in your own kitchen. Fast WiFi. Good sized bedroom , no outside noise other than birds. 2 Top spec toilet and shower, plenty of hot water. Home baked bread made for use.

The stay was over a long weekend, the cottage, hosts and location were perfect.

I loved the peace and quiet. The log burner added to the charm. We were greeted by Caitriona and found that we originated from the same great county in Ireland "Mayo"..Everything about our stay was perfect.

This was one of the best accommodations whatsoever. The host was excellent, outstanding. The premises were clean, spacious, stylish; two bathrooms, washing machine, nice kitchen. The host has a garden both with a sea view, and a mountain view. It is actually kind of paradise. We and our children felt so good there.
