The Jumbo Homestay

Had a very enjoyable 4 night stay here. The staff are absolutely lovely and helpful. They collected us from Bangsal ferry port and dropped us off at the airport when we left (additional charge but stress free). They also arranged scooters - these are pretty essential in our view as the real beauty definitely sits outside of Kuta itself with some stunning beaches less than 20 minutes away. The homestay itself is situated in a street off the main road where all the bars and restaurants are, so it is close enough to be convenient but away from the dust and tourist activity. There are also a couple of reasonably priced warungs very close by. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed and good amount of storage. Decent aircon and plenty of hot water too. There was a slight drain smell in the bathroom but nothing major. The guesthouse is undergoing some renovations so there is building work ongoing to the first and second floor, but there was no construction noise at all whilst we were there and I think it will resume when high season ends. You may wish to bring ear plugs as there is a mosque just down the road and the melodic sunrise call to prayer woke us up each morning (not unusual in many parts of Indonesia) and it also seemed to wake the resident cat who performed its own version of the dawn chorus straight afterwards. A very caring and considerate team work hard to make your stay a good one.

Our stay at The Jumbo Homestay in Kuta Lombok was absolutely amazing, and the biggest highlight of this place is definitely Rahman. I truly hope the owners know how lucky they are to have him — he deserves a huge pay rise for the way he takes care of guests. From the very first moment, Rahman was incredibly kind, professional, trustworthy, welcoming, and always smiling. No matter what we asked for, he was always happy to help — not only with us, but with every guest around him. You can genuinely feel that he cares. One morning we were leaving very early for a sunrise trip, and he even offered to wake up at 4 AM to prepare breakfast for us. Another day, I missed breakfast hours completely because I came back late around noon, and he still made breakfast for me so I wouldn’t miss it. That level of kindness and hospitality is something truly special. Communication with him was perfect the entire stay. We exchanged WhatsApp numbers, and whenever I needed anything, he responded quickly and always with positivity and patience. He also helped organize fixing my scooter so I could continue exploring Lombok without stress. Him and the team helped us with luggage, transportation, recommendations — literally everything. The rooms are huge, comfortable, and very well equipped. There is plenty of space everywhere, especially in the bathroom, which honestly is rare in many places in Indonesia. There are lots of shelves and drawers, so I could organize all my things and cosmetics comfortably. The hot water worked perfectly, the room had everything we needed, and the entire place felt spacious and relaxing. I also want to give a special shoutout to the young guy working there during some of the night shifts — unfortunately I don’t remember his name, but he was also absolutely wonderful. Always smiling, kind, professional, and reliable. He prepared breakfast for us several times early in the morning, and it was always delicious.

Honestly if you are looking for a great place to crash for a week or two, look no further, great bed, internet was solid, the hosts Artie and the other guy were amazing. They rent good bikes and I made some friends who were also staying there.
