Happy House Bregovita by Irundo

Rovinj is exceptionally beautiful for middle-aged travelers, couples, and families—it is too steep for seniors and lacks nightlife for the youth. Packed with galleries, magical architecture, and gorgeous narrow streets, every corner is charming in its own way. Our apartment was in the old town, just 100 meters from all the action and near the church at the top of the hill. Though the uphill walk feels a bit tiring at first, returning home feels like retreating to your own castle. The house is an authentic, functional old building with a shared entrance for three units—the only quirk being a bathroom window that vents into the common hallway. The ground-floor flat features a spacious bedroom with two lovely windows facing the street, a living room with a pull-out bed, a simple older bathroom, and a highly functional kitchen equipped with an adjustable espresso machine and coffee beans. Best of all, it has a cozy, private courtyard (4x4m) perfect for breakfast and drying clothes. The area is very quiet (though you might hear upstairs neighbors if they leave at dawn), the host is polite, Wi-Fi is great, and trash disposal is just 50 meters away. It was a truly magical experience that made us feel like locals rather than tourists, enjoying romantic walks late at night, delicious sandwiches down the steps, and charming flower-filled cafees nearby. Swimming at the rocky city beach is fine, though crowded and slippery. However, heading down the street brings you to the dock, where boats leave every hour for two nearby islands, or where you can rent bikes for a 10-minute ride to the beautiful Zlatni Rt forest park and its beaches. Highly recommended!

The bathroom window doesn't have frosted film all the way to the top, so it feels a bit uncomfortable if neighbors are walking by. Also, a second set of keys would be really helpful because you have to unlock both the main entrance door and the apartment door. So, if someone gets back first, they either have to leave everything unlocked—meaning you have to go grab the key inside just to lock up again—or leave it all locked, forcing them to throw the keys down to you from the window.
