About this house rental

Welcome to our home! It is a two bedroom, one bath, ranch with a basement that has been transformed into a functional living space. After a long day of enjoying Lake Erie, you and your guests can rest your bones in our newly updated bedrooms. The cozy master bedroom offers one queen bed and the spare bedroom offers one full bed, where you will wake up to a stunning view of the lake. You can also enjoy this same spectacular view from the large sliding glass door in the living room, which provides an additional queen bed in the pull-out sofa sleeper. When it is time to enjoy everything this property has to offer, you can enjoy a day on the lake from the beautiful back yard on one of our two decks, which offer private, walk-in lake access. Most importantly, dont forget to take in the breath taking sunsets at the end of each day!

We had the most fantastic stay! I grew up nearby and it was wonderful to share the lake with our kids. The house is super clean and absolutely adorable. The view and access to the water can't be beat! We will definitely return next summer!

Craig and Kari are excellent hosts! This is our second year staying at their home and it was just as clean and nice as last year. They care about their guests, we had a bad storm and the electricity went out they called to check on our safety and told us again where the lanterns were. What a great week!

We loved this property so much that it was our second time staying here. The outdoor space is gorgeous with the best sunset I’ve seen on Lake Erie. The house is wonderfully kept and owners are so kind and helpful. Highly recommend!

We were visiting Ohio from Los Angeles and needed a place to stay that was close to family but also served as a nice retreat. This house was perfect for us. The view was wonderful to wake up to, and the home is a short drive away from cute downtown Vermillion, which has several restaurants and a nice little coffee shop. Highly recommend this house if you are staying in the Vermillion area.

View and access to the lake were exceptional. Ice cream, miniature golf ,shopping in Vermillion and all the surrounding areas and attraction of the Lake Erie are and islands made for a great week at the lake !

Kari and Craig we are positive, have the most comfortable, totally ready for us or anyone lake front property that could be found off of Lake Erie Vermillion. They are the most accommodating hosts ever. This was our second stay there and we plan to come back again in the Fall. I miss it already . The view is spectacular!!!

This was the second time my mother and I stayed in this lovely home. I won't write another long review (you can see my last one posted in 2022) because everything was exactly the same! Great house, beautiful view, immaculate (and I mean SPOTLESS), couldn't ask for more. We highly recommend this home! Hope to come again next year! We enjoyed our weeklong stay in this cottage on Lake Erie. It was very clean and had a beautiful view and a great deck on the water and fantastic sunsets. A few things that others may find helpful: Listing should say dining table is in the basement. The coffee lover of us prefers having brewed coffee instead of coffee from a Keurig machine. A simple " Mr. Coffee" type would be a good addition. The price of the cottage is a bit more than others with the same or more space offered. Overall, it's a great place to stay! Convenient or not far from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cedar Point Amusement Park and about an hour from the Ohio State Reformatory where most of the movie, The Shawshank Redemption, was filmed, now an interesting museum in Mansfield, Ohio. The owners of the cottage were very helpful and quick to respond to our questions in setting up the reservation.

This was our 2nd trip to Braxton Cottage, and it was just as wonderful. Clean, convenient, well appointed and the owners are thoughtful and communicative. We spent hours just enjoying the beautiful yard and staring out at the water. 100% a fantastic stay!

This was our second stay at the Braxton Lake House and it was just as great as our first stay- maybe even better. We enjoyed the new changes that have been made since we stayed last year. And we just love the location on the lake, even during the “off-season, ” which is still lovely. We really need to find a time to come stay during the “on-season” soon. Amazing location and this home has everything you need for a great, relaxing vacation. We’ve been coming to the area for years and have stayed at various lovely cottages. But we have never experienced anything better than the Braxton Lake House, hands down. We arrived to a find a complimentary bottle of wine from Paper Moon Vineyard. (I’m a big fan of this establishment and their wines, def check them out during your visit). Comfortable, beautifully decorated and so well equipped. We took advantage of everything we could during our short visit. We grilled out, enjoyed the firepit, took in the gorgeous view from the deck. This home has everything and a lot of extras. The owners are so helpful and they communicate well. So thankful we found this gem!

This beautiful, relaxing place right on the lake was perfect for our long weekend stay. It was cozy, super clean, and had everything we needed. The deck had a beautiful view of the lake. We could even sit inside and view the lake from the living room. Downtown Vermilion is close by and offers shopping and great restaurants. We were lucky to be there during the Woollybear Festival, which was a lot of fun! We hope to be back during the summer when we can take more advantage of the lake. A cute cottage inside and out. Private and yet close to all that Vermilion has to offer. The inside was clean and comfortable. Kari and Craig provide everything you need. The deck off the living room was convenient, and the deck at Lake's edge was fantastic. (Unfortunately, the weather was windy and rainy the entire time we were there, so we look forward to returning sometime when it is warm and sunny to take advantage of the outside amenities) In any case, the view from the living room was fabulous....what a great place to relax, reflect and recharge. Super Hosts!

I have been vacationing in Vermilion my whole life, and I have always stayed on the lake. When we are looking for places to stay, a lakefront property is a must! In recent years, we have decided to try to find a place that has access to the lake without having to share a beach with other people. Although the water was too rough for us this time, it seems that we could definitely swim off of this property if the water is calm and the cement blocks are dry. The pictures make it seem like it's too dangerous, but the steps to the lake are much nicer in person. The owners have an eye for interior design! I'm not very good at decorating my own house, so it was nice to stay in a house that looked like it should be in a magazine! My teenagers can't stop talking about the lake deck! It was so nice! We took a ton of pictures, including the gorgeous sunrise and sunset. We stayed at a lakefront house in the next town over (Huron) last year for the same price, and it had more bedrooms and bathrooms, and it was similar to this house in regards to modern updates and access to the lake. So, I'm not sure we would be willing to pay this much for a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom house in the future. However, it really was spectacular, so we are definitely thinking about coming back!

Loved staying here! Great weather, right on Lake Erie with 2 decks for enjoying the cool breezes & gorgeous sunsets, quiet neighborhood close to Vermilion with a grocery store at the end of the street & loads of farmstands for fresh produce. Highly recommend.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this home! The house itself is so charming and cozy - the perfect lake getaway. Kari and Craig did a wonderful job styling and stocking the home with everything you’d want for your trip - we used the firepit to make s’mores! The real star is the backyard and deck though - WOW! The deck overlooks the lake with unobstructed views. Being able to watch the sunset every night made for the perfect vacation and memories we will never forget. Also, for dogs, this property is perfect with a huge, fenced yard. We also took our infant son and it was so wonderful for babies! We’d wake up with our coffee, lay a blanket out while he played with his toys, and listened to the sound of the waves. The town of Vermilion is filled with so much to do - great restaurants, beach, and lots of cute little shops. We had such a special, fun family vacation and are so grateful for this perfect rental. We can’t wait to be back as soon as we can! :)
