The Neighborhood
Abalone Bay is a true waterfront property with private beach access, ideal for tide pooling, coastal walks, and sunset views. The Sea Ranch community offers over 50 miles of scenic trails winding along ocean bluffs, open meadows, and redwood forest.

This is a natural coastal environment. Wildlife sightings—including deer, birds, and other native animals—are common and part of the Sea Ranch experience.

House Rules & Policies

Primary Guest Requirement:
The primary booking guest must be at least 25 years of age and must be present at the property for the entire stay.

Maximum Occupancy:
Occupancy is strictly limited to 6 guests, including children and infants.

Parties & Events:
Parties, events, and third-party bookings are not permitted.

Quiet Hours:
Quiet hours are observed from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM in accordance with community guidelines.

Smoking & Vaping:
Smoking or vaping of any kind is not permitted anywhere on the property.

Pets:
Up to two dogs are welcome with prior approval.
A pet fee of $80 for one dog or $160 for two dogs applies.
Guests are responsible for cleaning up after pets; failure to do so may result in an additional fee.

HOA & Community Rules:
Guests must comply with all Sea Ranch HOA regulations, including light restrictions and a prohibition on drone use.

Safety & Property Information

Ocean Bluff Setting:
The home is located along an ocean bluff with an unfenced drop. Children must be supervised at all times near the cliffs and shoreline. Sneaker waves may occur and can be dangerous.

Natural Environment:
This is a coastal, natural setting. Wildlife sightings may occur and are part of the Sea Ranch experience.

Climate & Cooling:
The home does not have central air conditioning. The coastal climate remains cool year-round, and fans are provided for comfort.

Property Systems:
The home operates on a septic system; please flush toilet paper only.
A whole-house generator provides backup power during outages (generator does not heat the hot tub).

Security Cameras:
Exterior security cameras are installed and monitor the driveway and entry areas only. There are no interior cameras.

Booking Requirements & Check-In

Rental Agreement & ID:
A signed rental agreement and a copy of a valid photo ID are required within 48 hours of booking.

Security Hold:
A $500 refundable security hold will be placed on a credit card prior to arrival.

Construction Notice:
A neighboring home is under construction with an anticipated completion date of March 2026. Daytime construction noise may be present.

Abalone Bay was perfect for our family of 6 including our young adult children and our dog. We've been to Sea Ranch many times and this house was by far the best, for many reasons: location and view, light, and setup for a family and couples. The view from the living room was amazing- a cypress tree and the ocean with sufficient privacy from those walking by the ocean. The enclosed courtyard was perfect for our dog to go outside safely. We spent our time on the trails and playing games in the living room. Very tastefully decorated too. Donna is very helpful and responsive. I am mobility impaired and while the house is not formally ADA, it met my needs well as someone who uses a walker and wheelchair and has help- ask if you need more details. All in all, a wonderful, peaceful time and we would love to return.

This was our second stay at Abalone Bay and it was as enjoyable as the first visit. The home was plenty spacious for our family of 5 adults and one golden retriever. We were fortunate to see whales, deer, seals and a fox all on the ocean bluff just outside the home. This home is not your typical vacation rental, it is extremely well cared for, every home need is in place and it is so comfortable. We look forward to returning!

Sea Ranch Abalone Bay is a the place to go if you need to unwind. It is a great place to commune with nature. Had great weather for our stay at Abalone Bay allowing for whale spotting while walking Bear, our dog, along the seaside bluff. Took advantage of Donna's (owner) suggestion and attended the Gualala Art Festival. It presented arts and crafts from local artists including some talented individuals. Saw several pods of spouting whales while sitting outside on the new Adirondack chairs. They were harder to spot this time because they were mostly out on the horizon. We also saw a deceased large female humpback on the rocks near walk on beach. That was sad. As of our leaving the cause of death had not yet been determined. Sea Ranch is not known for it's fine dining so we ate in several nights bringing some prepared meals with us. Abalone Bay has everything needed to prepare and serve meals just like home. Had dinner at Pier Place in Point Arena. Tried the Rockfish tacos this time which were great. Just another great time for us and our dog, Bear at Sea Ranch.

My husband and I, along with our daughter, son-in-law, and their 2 young children spent a wonderful 6 days at Abalone Bay. The property was so thoughtfully stocked- from all the available kitchen equipment and spices, the shampoo and conditioners in the baths, down to the blankets for the chilly evenings- that we wanted for little. The views from the living room were simply amazing! We also loved spending time in the spacious outdoor area, all enclosed so that our 2 year old grandson could run around safely. The daily walks along the beautiful rugged coastline were a welcome change from the summer heat of Chicago and Pasadena. We will definitely be back! Thank you for making our stay so relaxing!

The owner provides a guidebook that lists things to do, places to eat, area current events, and other information regarding how to use everything the home.

The property’s location is unbeatable to relax with calming views all around. It is also well stocked with all the luxury amenities to make one feel truly pampered. We found ourselves reaching for the guidebook often as it is a great resource to explore local activities. Donna and Jorge are great hosts and were always available to ensure we had the best experience!

Daily short walk along the trail to watch the Harbor Seals frolick in the clear waters near their sun-basking peers. Champagne at sunset every night. Daily drive into Gualala to visit cute shops and get dinner fixings at Surf Market. Morning swim and sauna at Ohlson rec center - make reservations for swim lane online in advance. Great hot tub in the private backyard. Ping pong in the garage. House is fully equipped for cooking at home, we hardly ever dine elsewhere, although we like to grab to-go meals at Trinks, Two Fishes and Upper Crust pizza.
