Everything you need in a central location

Our host knew we were travelling with children and took extra care to make our stay enjoyable for them. Upon our (late) arrival after a long drive, we discovered one corner of the living room had been thoughtfully set up for the children with some toys and colouring materials. The location was perfect to explore Troyes. We were initially only planning to make a quick stop to get some rest before continuing on to our final destination, so had only researched enough to be sure we would be staying in a safe area. In the end, the location was so convenient we spent a few hours in the morning to visit Troyes. There was parking nearby. The duplex itself is conveniently furnished. We only stayed for one night so didn't need much. However, it appeared to have everything a short term renter could want. Communication with the host was very clear.

We knew it was an older building and were sufficiently warned before booking that the stairs reflected the age of the building (charming but dangerous stairs for children or adults with mobility issues). So this came as no surprise and didn't bother us at all. We were a bit surprised by a low beam in the upper bedroom. I won't tell you how many times I hit my head on the beam but it was too many times :-). I didn't give top marks for cleanliness, but I want to stress that the apartment was definitely clean and we found no real issue. The reason I didn't give top marks is nitpicking - the spaces between the wooden floorboards collect dust and crumbs. We had a hard time cleaning them, and clearly we weren't the first to have a hard time cleaning them. But to be fair, this is a general problem with old wooden floors almost anywhere.

Very helpful communication from the host. The location is fantastic, in the centre of this beautiful town, and it was a chance for us to stay in one of the very old timber buildings that are a feature of Troyes. The flat was very clean and comfortable, and as we had an early start the coffee and snack was very welcome, even though the coffee machine wasn't working so well.

A more effective coffee machine would have made the stay even better!

Great position with really helpful hosts.

Great position in the centre of Troyes. Our hosts were fantastic - we left some earrings and they were really helpful in sending them on afterwards.

The shower was only a handheld shower and the curtain was too long so was across the bottom of the bath - you couldn't really have a shower.

Old and quirky with lots of character. Excellent location close to the centre of Troyes. We are a family of 5 and it worked really well for us. Good communication with the owner.

It wasn’t a problem for us but be aware that the stairs up to the top bedroom are very steep and the only toilet is up in that room.

A very authentic, experience in a medieval city centre.

Very authentic building. So, a lot of atmosphere but do not expect modern anemities like airconditioning or an elevator. It is quiet, but still in the old city centre of Troyes. Yo7 can start a nice city walk directly from the front door. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the close proximity.

The apartment is directly under the roof. We were there in a hot summer night, so it was also hot inside.

Sleepless night

Location, space and cleanliness were great.

There was a party in the flat above all night. As the ceiling of the apartment is the floor above we were subjected to loud music, singing, banging on the ceiling until 1:30 am. My children are 5 and 8 years old and could not sleep. Both were exhausted and now ill for our holiday. I cannot understand why the owner rented the apartment to us as a family of young children when they must have known about the party. Totally unprofessional and very unkind to subject a family to this all night. I have videos of how loud it was and happy to forward for you to hear what we were subjected to.

Superb

Although we did not meet our host in person, she was very helpful and communication went well. She provided a blender on our request for our baby, as well as toys (we did not ask for but this was very nice). The location is great, in the city center, with a lot of restaurants and attractions nearby. The apartment is big and comfortable.

This is a spacious, characterful apartment in an old building. It wears its age well but it isn’t posh. The location is excellent, in the heart of the old city.

The main bed is a bit small (but the sofa bed is vast).

Le logement. J'y ai passé la pire nuit depuis longtemps. La literie est catastrophique. Le sommier et le matelas bien usés et beaucoup trop mou. Ce qui a engendré des douleurs. J'ai été obligé de terminer ma nuit par terre, avec la couette d'un autre âge.Les communs sont sales, l'appartement n'était pas vraiment propre. Les équipements sont vieux et ne donnent pas confiance. la vaisselle était sale.La salle de bain pas mieux . Dimanche à 7h je suis réveillé par les voisins qui ne sont pas du tout discrets. L'isolation est mauvaise...bref, une erreur à ne pas renouveler.

Tout est bien, notamment l'emplacement.

L'emplacement est particulièrement appréciable, en plein centre ville, près des commerces et des centres d'intérêt, mais dans une rue très calme. L'appartement est confortable, correctement aménagé, propre, et le prix est tout à fait correct.

Un seul tout petit bémol : la porte d'entrée en tôle au rez-de-chaussée n'a pas de poignée, donc on doit la claquer pour la fermer ; c'est très bruyant.
