Strand House with FREE secure Parking

I had to call someone to meet us at the property as I arrived on a Sunday. I also had to make several international phone calls to arrange this. It would have been much more convenient to have a lock box. Also, at check out, I had to walk a couple of blocks, in the rain with all of my luggage to return the keys. Very inconvenient.

Location was absolutely fantastic; within walking distance of everything that we needed, and a short walk to the shopping centre and historical areas. Also really close to other hotels etc. so if you are there for longer, and people to come visit, it's really convenient. The apartment is comfortable and homely. Lots of great cafes, bars and restaurants nearby; I would especially recommend Gatehouse Coffee, less than 5 mins walk away in the old walls, and Spark York right next to the accommodation for great food options.

The apartment was not very clean when we arrived, but we spoke to the agency who organises the bookings regarding this, and they had brought in a new cleaning company by the time we left. It was also quite noisy at night, as it seems like a common route for people coming home on a night out, and near student accommodation. Not a problem with the windows closed, but just something to bear in mind during summer months. I ended up sleeping with earplugs every night that we had the windows open.

Great location, comfortable apartment, well equipped kitchen, good natural light.

Nothing

As there was a train strike at the day of my arrival, I had to postpone my arrival. The couple who provided me with the keys was very sympathetic. Altogether, I very much enjoyed my stay at the appartment. It offers a great equipment (even scissors), the bed ist very good as well as the kitchen, the bathroom, every room :). There is only one slight disadvantage according to my view: There were passengers outside, who made some noise late in the evening, sometimes even during the night. Moreover, in the appartment above, there was daily early vaccum cleaning practiced. However, both inconveniences where not caused by the landlord. I stayed one month and would come back, the central location has also advantages and the bus station taking the bus to the university is nearby (as well as other bus stations).
