Rydal Hall Christian Retreat Centre

What a little gem! This place is now my go-to in the Lake District. The location just outside Ambleside and walking distance from Rydal Water make it exceptional. We felt like we were staying at a stately home but paid less than at a Premier Inn. We had a twin room on the first floor and it was enormous with very comfy beds. We liked it so much we extended our stay and tried another room on the top floor with a magnificent view of the formal gardens. Delicious buffet breakfast including fruit, mini omelettes and bacon accompanied by relaxing classical music. We ate dinner there one night and the lamb was cooked to perfection and served with interesting tasty vegetables. The two biggest plus points are the staff and the gardens. Lynsey, Liz and Zoe in reception were delightful and deserve special mention, as does Eduardo who worked as a waiter. Every day we strolled around the gardens, which are so peaceful, and finished off with a coffee at the onsite cafe overlooking the waterfall. Can't wait to go back.

The only minor thing I can think of is to suggest a wee timer near the egg boiler at breakfast.. I guessed..and was soft boiled

Location of course. Staff helpful and good breakfast.

We had to cut our stay short because of injury after a fall. We enquired at reception whether we could get refund or credit the lost day tiwards a return later in year. We can only ask. Still waiting for their call back.
