The Feathers Holt

Breakfast was great: all cooked to order. Gluten free diet catered for. The staff are FABULOUS. They really did do everything possible too make our stay wonderful (such as squeezing us in for a dinner reservation when there weren't actually any tables left) and giving us a slightly later checkout. They also gave my parents a ground floor room when I hadn't specified before that this would be preferred. The hotel is perfectly situated in the town centre (but still quiet!). Lovely garden area for pre-dinner drinks in the evening sunshine.

No fridge in the room. We were given a thermos style bottle of milk when we arrived for tea/coffee but this wasn't renewed for the second day and therefore we couldn't have a tea/coffee before breakfast. Room 18 in The Lawns building is a ground floor room with a conservatory on the back door. The conservatory is a lovely touch but it was very hot when we were there and it wasn't possible to have the doors open (as it was a ground floor) overnight so it was very hot. There was a fan provided though.

We stayed in the Lawns which was an old Georgian house. Our room was comfortable but we expected more seating within the room. Teas and coffee weee supplied

We did t know until last morning that their was a Guest Fridge situated in the communal area Previously i was walking to pub to get milk for our teas and coffees

The breakfasts were really good and we enjoyed them. The evening meal we had on our first night at The Feathers was also good but we didn't stay for any other evening meals because there wasn't anything we fancied to eat on the menu.

The evening food menu was limited. We felt we had been given the worst room in the hotel [room 15] and wonder if this is the policy for those booking through Booking.com. There was blood on one of the cushions, dirty marks on the wall and the toilet seat, although clean, was damaged through use and needed replacing. We were given fresh milk in a container on arrival, but by the morning it had gone off and was unusable. Each day we had to ask for milk at reception and I feel it would be better to have Long Life milk supplied in the room.
