Granary Cottage Luxury Barn Conversion

Granary cottage is a beautiful, peaceful little cottage that was perfect for our family of 5. It had everything we needed! Location was great.

The location is quiet, with a pub within walking distance. The house is very cute, well-equipped and comfortable, with a lovely little courtyard garden. It is in a quiet location, with a local pub within walking distance. The only thing that would have been useful was a bath mat for the main shower, as the bath was very slippery.

Slippery shower over bath. We had no complaints about the cottage itself, but the management company, Red Kite, was very poor. We made several requests during our stay, all of which were rejected without any explanation. We only managed to get the check-out time extended from 10am to 12pm by really pushing them. We were also required to pay an additional security deposit after making the booking. We were not made aware of this before booking, although it may have been included somewhere in the small print. Overall, we enjoyed the cottage itself, but the experience with the management company would certainly make us think twice about booking through Booking.com again, and we would definitely avoid properties managed by Red Kite.

The beds were very comfortable.

There were ants all over the kitchen, which was very annoying to prepare food or to keep food safe as there was not much storage room available. There was a leak in the ceiling sending water from the upstairs bathroom into the dining room. The towels smelled moldy. There was no equipment for toddlers such as a baby bed or a baby chair which was a nuisance since we travelled with our two children aged 1 and 3. The radiator in the bathrooms could not be turned off and was extremely hot, causing a burn on one of our children's hands after touching it. In the front yard, there was dog poo from neighbors. Some light bulbs weren't working. There were no mosquito screens in front of the window and the house was surrounded by bees. The lady of the house had issued a large amount of house rules which didn't at all feel very welcoming. All bedlinen had to be pulled off and all edibles removed before check-out. Overall, we were relieved to go home.
