Riad Shanima SPA Marrakech

The location of this place is perfect. We liked the bed. The entry area to the Riad is really welcoming and the ambience is pretty. The airport transfer worked smoothly and we are very happy we booked it. We paid 20€ for the transfer for 2 of us at midnight. The guys who came to pick us up (unfortunately, we were tired and completely forgot their names) were super friendly and even gave us tips on what to see around the city.

We arrived late at night and were initially given the “Safi” suite. After about 20 minutes of our arrival, we realized the AC was not working. A staff member tried to fix it by removing and washing the filter (with water 🫨), but unfortunately but unsurprisingly, it did not solve the issue. As no other room was available, we had to spend the first night in a very hot room despite paying around €126 per night. We were not even given an apology, instead he told us to sleep with the window open if we felt hot. This window opens to the “passageway” and its also placed at the stairs of the suite so it was an empty suggestion. The next day, we were moved to the “Chaouen” suite, where the AC worked properly. The only issue in this room was that the shower drain was clogged and water would get pooled while showering, but otherwise it was fine. The breakfast was not particularly impressive for us, as it mainly consisted of sweet items. We did ask for eggs and received them, and other guests seemed to enjoy the breakfast, so this may simply be a matter of personal preference. Just for your info: don’t buy bottled water from the riad until it’s an emergency. There is a small kiosk just a 3-minute walk away where water costs 6-8 MAD, compared to 20 MAD at the property. The staff member who seemed to be there when we arrived was working, but he was not welcoming but this could be because of the language barrier and I understand how some people are shy. On the other hand, another gentleman we met towards the end of our stay was very friendly and welcoming. Overall, the Riad itself was okay but the suite was overpriced for what we got.

The friendliness and willingness to help of the staff is on a level i have never experienced. Asma was always available for any question and Request. Very clean and peaceful place to stay at in Marrakech. I was traveling with my parents who had accessibility issues, they gave them a room which was very comfortable and met their needs. At the last day of our day, my father has forgotten his phone on the taxi we booked through the Riad, the driver drove all the way back to hand in the phone back to us which proved again how friendly they are. I highly recommend this Riad for a stay in Marrakech and will definitely book it again for my next visit.

A lovely calm riad set well away from the hustle of the medina down a small lane. The staff could not have been more helpful or charming at every stage and everything felt very personal. A good sized room and bathroom looking over the central courtyard with a small pool. Substantial French style breakfast to start each day
