Khan Duidar Inn - Pyramids View Rooftop

I stayed here for 2 weeks over July/ August. First of all, there are a few previous comments about the area. It's only a problem if you're a bit stuffy. This is real Giza. Get out and explore. The people are warm and friendly and the area is completely safe. There are a lot of stray dogs as there are across Cairo but they are docile and were never a problem. There are some great coffee shops and patisseries just around the corner of the hotel. The adjacent supermarket is good and there is also a Carrefour, a 5 minute walk away. The hotel is at the top of the building but there are no issues with the lift. I was there during a 5.7 earthquake and all was fine. The entrance is welcoming - a few kids playing football most days were friendly and keen to say hello! The hotel is clean, dare I say, spotless and the staff could not be more genuinely friendly if they tried. They're as welcoming and warm as most Egyptians. The food is good but I'd also recommend Cafe Naguib Mahfouz in the Khan al-Khalili if you want proper koshary or Egyptian food. Shehab who was on the desk a lot, and another man who checked me in whose name I think is Muhammad were exceptionally friendly as was the lady whose name I didn't catch. The location is excellent for the GEM and the pyramids. The view is breath taking. The pictures do not do it justice at all. Uber into downtown is seriously cheap, safe, and pretty quick. £5 gets you across to the other side of Cairo! All my uber drivers drove carefully and didn't pressure for tips (although I tipped, of course!). The airport transfer was also a bonus. It's not free despite what Lonely Planet says but I'd recommend it for peace of mind. Rooms are spotless. Breakfast was excellent. I've been to Egypt several times (I'm an Egyptology under- and post-graduate) and this hotel is the best I've stayed in. I feel bad for not tipping more to be honest.

To be honest, there is nothing to report here, except the TV was hard to use. However, I used it as a welcome opportunity to switch off, unwind after a hot day and after all, with a view of the Great Pyramid, who needs a TV? I never even raised this minor issue to the hosts.

Отель отличный, вид с 13 этажа открывается шикарный, наверно лучший в гизе. Терраса чистая и уютная, завтракать с видом на пирамиды одно удовольствие. Можно попросить зонтик, если сильно печет. Насчет номера: он большой, очень чистый, большая кровать, много места для хранения. В ванной есть фен, с горячей водой проблем не было. Хочу отдельно отметить - все очень чистое и новое. Персонал вежливый, учтивый, помогли с обменом денег. Завтраки вполне сытные, есть овощи, фрукты. Без излишеств. Общий вердикт такой: если в планах посмотреть пирамиды и новый музей, смело рекомендую этот отель. В плане локации просто сказка, до главных достопримечательностей 10-15 мин. Очень приятно было здесь находиться!

Good location, it is elevated on the 13th floor so it feels very quiet and relaxing.

As a European traveller there was no bar or alcohol available at the accommodation. Also the surrounding streets are not great.
