Great week spent in the Ampelaki House

We had a great experience staying here with our family

Paleokastritsa is the best place in Corfu, and this house is absolutely wonderful. It is located right on the beach, on the most secluded shore. The house is large, beautiful, clean, and has a unique atmosphere. There were five of us, and the space was more than enough for everyone. The spacious outdoor area has plenty of sunbeds, two dining tables, a barbecue, and offers stunning views of the sea and sunsets. There was even a summer shower outside. Inside, the house had everything we needed: lots of kitchenware, air conditioners, mosquito nets, towels, and a washing machine. The host left us lovely gifts – fruit, wine, and coffee. Cleaning was provided every other day. There are also three wonderful beaches nearby, as well as a bus station from where you can reach Corfu Town in 50 minutes. On the beach you can rent a motorboat for 6 hours and visit magnificent secluded white-sand beaches that are only accessible by sea – highly recommended!

However, we were badly bitten by mosquitoes at night, despite the mosquito nets. There was a plug-in mosquito repellent device, but no cartridges for it. The front door was very difficult to open, and most doors creaked, which made it hard to sleep at night. Overall, we were delighted and impressed by the opportunity to stay in such a place.

The location of this house is exceptional, giving directly onto the quietest beach in this resort, away from the busier areas but within a few minutes of shops, restaurants, boat hire and public transport if you need it. The beds were very comfortable and as the windows all have mosquito nets, we slept with the windows open rather than use the air conditioning. Dinner on the terrace watching the remains of the sunset and then the moonlight on the sea was just fantastic.

The photos of the house and previous comments meant that we were expecting an old fashioned and somewhat basic property. This is part of its charm. There were a few things that didnt work and a general feeling that the house could do with some TLC very soon but the one or two issues that we raised were very quickly remedied.

A beautiful, unique house overlooking a small bay. Our family of 6 absolutely loved the house. There was plenty of room, comfy beds, and everything we needed to have the best time! We stayed over Easter holidays and the area was quiet and peaceful.

Fabulous house in a spectacular location

This is a wonderful house in a spectacular location. Is it perfect? Not quite. Was it the best holiday property we have ever been to? YES. We didn't want to leave and would love to go back every year. The location is fabulous, with the spacious terrace overlooking the beach and sea, and only 12 steps down to a swim in the beautiful Ionic sea. The house is spacious, and although not super modern, the rooms are very charming, with the quirky tiles and gorgeous door handles. The windows have fly screens and the air conditioning works, should you need it. In the kitchen there are plenty of plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery, and it could easily accommodate 8 people (we were a family of 4). The beaches and bays nearby are simply beautiful - swimming in the clear blue waters, taking a paddle boat to explore the caves - Paleokastritsa is just a magical place for a holiday. Hot tip: Walk to the aquarium (about 200 m away) to view the sublime sunset each night.

When we arrived the house hadn't been cleaned. We waited 3 hours on the terrace whilst the cleaners cleaned, so it wasn't a big problem for us, but was unexpected. A big storm took out the power the first night, so our first day was met by intermittently working appliances. This wasn't the hosts fault, and we just went swimming instead. The only thing we actually missed was a dishwasher (the kitchen unfortunately doesn't have one and the kids weren't keen to hand wash the dishes). But seriously - that was the only (minor) improvement we could have wished for. Everything else was just fabulous.

Séjour dans un lieu exceptionnel (bercé par le bruit des vagues!).

Lieu de villégiature à la situation exceptionnelle, au charme un peu suranné. Une maison hyper facile à vivre (proximité des commerces, restaurants, randonnées, capitale de l'île facilement accessible, etc...) et située dans un des plus coins de l'île.
