We absolutely loved this hotel! The service was incredible, the breakfast was delicious, and the pool area with its comfortable seating layout was fantastic. Highly recommended!

Have you ever stayed somewhere that started terrible but ended great? Keep searching, because Amanti (Made ForTwo Hotels) in Ayia Napa is not that place. The hotel’s bio insists on "adults-only" entry, promising a sanctuary of elevated serenity. The truth? If they did allow children, their disappointed tantrums would be drowned out by those of the adults. In hindsight, the flashing red warning signs were right there at check-in. Sat ahead of us was a young man practically begging management to release him early from his booking and issue a refund. Evidently, somewhere between his arrival and that exact moment, he had suddenly rediscovered his appetite for life and decided he simply wanted to live. To be fair, the opening act is a triumph of stage management. You enter a foyer pumping out a floral fragrance so aggressively pleasant it feels like a distraction. You are handed a complimentary red tea—cloyingly sweet, but it hits the spot—and escorted upstairs by a genuinely charming bellboy. And right there, in that fleeting moment, you have peaked. It is all downhill from the lobby. The moment our bedroom door swung open, we were hit by an odour so violently foul I actively looked around for a chalk body outline. I asked the bellboy if he could smell it; the immediate, horrified scrunching of his face confirmed our grim reality. To his credit, he didn't try to gaslight us and immediately signalled reception. We were quickly moved to a second room. It looked identical and smelled less offensive, but the olfactory ghost of a failed plumbing system still lingered. Clearly, that heavy perfume in the lobby isn't a luxury ambiance choice; it's a defensive military deployment to mask whatever infrastructure horror is happening backstage. The rooms themselves are generously proportioned—provided you are a three-legged sailor hamster. Reaching them requires scurrying down long corridors that possess all the claustrophobic, linear charm of Das Boot. The next morning, breakfast offered a stunning view, but the food itself was utterly pedestrian for Cyprus. You can find the exact same pastries, coffee, eggs, halloumi, and watermelon at an establishment with two fewer stars for a fraction of the price. To make matters worse, ordering a morning drink required the kind of expert whistling usually reserved for hailing a New York cab—in our case, we were third time lucky. While the staff seemed pleasant enough on the surface, they served us with one eye on the guests and the other firmly fixed on the clock to go home. We escaped after a single night, profoundly grateful that past travel trauma had taught us never to commit to a long stay upfront. This is absolutely no 5-star hotel in feel, smell, or value. If you have a burning desire to relive the sinking of the Titanic—holding your nose against a literal l’eau de toilette while praying for a detached door to float away on—by all means, book a room. Otherwise, run.
