Summer House Sydney City

Perfect location, so close to everything you need (main shopping area, transport). The staff were also very lovely and were super kind about luggage storage!

The downfall of being so central is the outside noise at night, so just something to be aware of for light sleepers. And there often seemed to be a queue for the showers/toilets in the morning so just need to be aware of timing.

Really great service from staff who took the time to remember my name also. The British guy at the desk is very friendly. Other hostels I've stayed at in Sydney staff seem to have an attitude towards locals (staying in hostels while moving as its a cheaper option to hotels) and I felt they went above and beyond here for me to have a good experience. One of their receptionists even waived the $20 deposit for me on a past stay as I didnt realise they needed one. I stayed in the largest female dorm and all the other guests were really respectful and non invasive which was great too. I'm in my 30s and past some of the partying side at hostels and it was great that guests mostly kept to themselves but friendly enough to say hello and were pretty respectful with noise levels being kept down. The rooms are great - Curtains are always a bonus in hostels for privacy - Could just do with installing individual lights for each bed? I showered at a friends house close by for more privacy but bathrooms seemed fine. Rooftop was fantastic! Excellent location right near Town Hall and Central.

Clean and great location

Uncomfortable pillows, very flat couldn’t sleep. The hostel was right opposite another hotels car park entrance and the alarm kept going off each time a car was entering and / or leaving.
