Our stay at the Byre was lovely, the setting was perfect and the building exceeded our expectations.

The Byre is situated in a rural area with views across the fields, the hosts were lovely and showed us how everything worked in the property. The inside of the Byre was very quirky set on three levels and beautifully decorated, the original stonework is on display along with the original roof beams. The kitchen was well equipped, with a full cooker/oven, toaster, coffee maker, etc, the hosts even provided cereal. The bed was very comfy, and building was warm despite the terrible weather outside. We used it as a base camp when visiting towns and villages in the area and looked forward to getting back in the evening.

There was very little not to like about the location, the building or the hosts. The only thing that did cause me some concern was the antique chairs at the kitchen table which seemed a little delicate.

Peaceful and well appointed byre where you can relax!

Lovely converted byre in a beautiful setting. Homemade scones and cake on arrival - a real treat! Well appointed with lots provided - tea, coffee machine with pods, cereals, washing powder and capsules for washing machine and dishwasher, lots of crockery and cooking pots/pans. Clothes dryer very useful too. Comfortable bed. Recommendations of things to do in the area, very friendly and welcoming hosts.

Shower cubicle is quite small. More remote than anticipated, but located in a beautiful area. Inside oven could do with a clean.

Cosy, peaceful retreat.

Really cosy and quiet. A perfect getaway for a couple. The house was very well equipped and there were lots of little luxuries like candles, robes and a nespresso coffee machine. Beautiful scones on arrival.

Blissful country retreat

A truly blissful country setting for those who don't mind being reasonably isolated down winding country lanes. The hosts Jen and Richard were delightful and welcoming. The fresh home baking on arrival was particularly well received... scones with clotted cream and jam... scrumptious. The historic barn conversion maintains its character while ensuring all modern conveniences are present. We would definitely return (ideally in drier weather;)

Loved the Byre. An excellent stay.

Stunning stay at the Byre. Great friendly welcome from the owners, with a home made afternoon tea waiting on the kitchen table. Plenty of facilities (kitchen, dvds, games), great set up and wonderful views. Loved the layout, decor and cosy feeling. Sad to come home. Plus great location, quiet but a short drive to plenty.

Amazing place!

Everything, the place is amazing and Richard and Jen are really nice people. Our kids loved the house and the area. You arrive and you have freshly homemade pies! Whatelse! The gardens, are also to mentioned, just fantastic! Definetely looking forward to return again!

Just delightful.

Not wanting to be unoriginal, but like Craig from Australia, whose review is further down, this would be the favourite place we've stayed at in 4 weeks in the UK. We wish we'd booked for longer. The converted byre was not only really well equipped, but lovely and tasteful, with a friendly, cosy air. Both Jen and Richard were welcoming and very helpful (thanks for the excellent instructions re: directions and for the scones , jam & cream). As if all this wasn't enough, there were the gardens! I don't have words enough for the gardens! Beautiful area. It was wonderful to get away from the hussle of cities and tourist areas and just relax.

Beautiful and very comfortable home in a lovely setting.

The property is beautiful and surrounded by wonderful scenery. Communication with the owners was great. Everything in the house is very high quality and very well maintained. The surrounding gardens are wonderful. There are lots of lovely touches like homemade cream scones and shortbread, lovely thick dressing gowns and towels. And a great coffee machine. The owners were really lovely and our son loved their dog and the garden swing. We hope to go back.

Amazing British traditional house that creates a unique experience

This is one of the best houses we’ve ever stayed at. Our daughter loved it. It’s beautiful, it’s clean, hosts are great, kitchen is amazing, views are breathtaking. With all the little details around the house, you can feel how much love hosts have put into this place.

My husband wasn’t fan of the smell coming from the farm nearby, but it’s really not that bad and just at some particular hours I think. Most of the time you only smell the green garden.

A truely delightful stay in an old cottage in the English countryside with helpful friendly hosts.

nice selection of breakfast cereal. On arrival our host Jen had left a beautiful selection of scones and home-made cake. We also enjoyed a complementary bottle of wine while sitting in the courtyard. The standard of the linen, towels and furnishings was very high as was Jen's touch for interior decor.

We were happy with all the property had to offer.

Beautiful property . So cosy . Everything you need is there . Spotlessly clean . The hosts were so friendly and encouraged us to view their gardens which were amazing . Wouid deffo recommend this gorgeous little place . Quite remote but that’s what we like . All in all a fab place to stay

A beautifully converted period property in a scenic location. Super clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could need and the bedrooms were gorgeous. The hosts have paid a lot of attention to detail and have included lots of thoughtful touches. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

This stay was beautiful, serene, and above all, filled with love. Every inch of this gorgeous property was considered with care - we were welcomed to delicious, homemade cake and granola, as well as any and all possible facility you would need. The views were exquisite. We’ve already made a pact to return to this property, as it has been one of our favourite stays of all time. We‘ve never stayed in such a comfortable accomodation like in this beautiful one. Everything in the house was loving prepared. The house is absolutly in the best taste arranged. Jen and Richard organized a lot of toys and drawing material for our two daughters. The house is complete equipped with everthing is needed. It seems to be Jen and Richard loves to host guests. Everything they do with their whole heart. We felt very welcome and are thankful for these wonderful days at the Ashes and in the countryside of beautiful Crumbia. We didn‘t miss anything!

Absolutely outstanding and beyond perfect in every way

Every single thing from the view to the beautifully decorated property inside . The personal touches left from the owners who were so kind and friendly they go over and above to make sure your stay is perfect . On arrival Jan had made beautiful fresh scones , jam and clotted cream for us sitting in a pretty dome alongside homemade marmalade. The property has the most beautiful touches inside from Egyptian cotton sheets , beautifully fluffy towels, scented candles, pretty throws , the most amazing smelling room freshners , robes , even the dish cleaner smells amazing . The beds were so comfortable inside this property each room is decorated to a high standard it felt as if we were in a small château in France it has its own beautiful style . We never wanted to leave it sits with the most amazing view and accesss to a stunning garden. I don't have enough words to describe how wonderful our stay was and how much we appreciated the thoughtfulness and kindness from both owners . We will be back !

This is a special property -- one of the most comfortable and peaceful stays ever.

Secluded and beautiful location, charming and comfortable room. We came here to get some disconnected rest and it was absolutely perfect. Not terribly far from M6 and plenty of villages and pubs nearby, but if you want to do your own cooking and just relax it is perfect for this. Host was clear with us that the WiFi might not be super fast, but we had no trouble streaming football on Amazon Prime. Stunning views and lots of walking nearby.

Quiant countryside oasis.

Beautiful property/ cottage away from the hustle and bustle of life. All the extra touches Jen and Richard added to the cottage makes the stay so much more special like fresh scones jam and cream on arrival. they went above and beyond for my mothers 60th birthday. Jen baked a beautiful cake and decorated the cottage. Thank you! kitchen is well equiped to cook Meals. beds are super comfortable even the fold out on the top level. great stay. cannot fault.
