The pension is close to the beautiful beach (5-ish minutes walk without running) without being in a busy area. At night the hum of the cooling equipment is the only sound, apart from cicadas. It's nice to have the hot baths available after coming home, and to sit the canteen with a view of the valley for breakfast or dinner. The proprietors of the pension are the most friendly people and speak English fluent enough to tell about the area and point at nice places to visit.

Traditional Japanese room experience with exceptional host. Thank you Mr. Yamamoto for taking care of us! Traditional onsen (wellness) included. Traditional kimono, futong, tea set, beach umbrella, washing and drying machine. I recommend this a lot!

Its not the most comfortable room if you are used to a western style rooms. But here you go for experience. Real Japanese style. What you should be prepared for is going uphill and downhill for the beach. And also upstairs and downstairs inside the house.

Everything. The owners were so kind and thoughtful, walking us through the checkin process and tour. They made us feel so at home. The room was amazing, we had Japanese style with tatami mats and slept on futons. I highly recommend staying in one of these rooms instead of the regular beds. You don’t have your private bathroom, but they’re right outside your door and the bath is lovely. Yukatas were also provided so we enjoyed the full experience. Lovely location. You do walk up a hill from the bus, but it’s worth the climb. Amazing views. Shirahama beach is beautiful, and there is a nice cafe/shop down the road where you can eat until 7pm. There’s also a seven eleven at the base of the hill. So beautiful, so much care, and it was like we had a nice home stay. Will be back.
