It was fine. Perfect for a bed & nothing more
Location but only because it looked like a rougher part of Stoke. That’s only opinion not fact though

It was warm. The lights worked. There was free parking
Tired accommodation.
the wifi didnt work.
at around 10pm, shouting outside my door, and then the door opened and demanding questions about my alleged smoking in my room.
I told the person to get out and he left quickly .
In the morning I complained about the breaking to my room and received an apology.
Apparently the fire detection incorrectly indicated that there was smoking in my room, in fact it was the person next door who had or was smoking.
I do not recommend this hotel at all and won't be back . be back, not receommendin

Comfy bed, nice and spacious unlike most hotels you go to. More of a homely feel.
Other people in the hotel smoking weed so couldn’t have windows open. Other people in the hotel being extremely loud all night. In the morning about 7am had a car on the car go up and down honking the horn waking me up and not able to go back to sleep.

Not available
It wasn’t the cheapest option, the place needs some investment.
6.0 / 10.0
Convenient to get to
Not so clean, bits of sand between sheets, sink area needs decorating, shower curtain needs a wash.

It was convenient and warm. I previously stayed at holidayinn and although holidayinn is a nicer cleaner place to stay it isn’t as warm therefore I would opt Tollgate Hotel over Holidayinn over the winter or colder months. No contest.
Tollgate Hotel is very USA motel vibes. I’d imagine the ideal place for an extramarital affair or hook up due to its appearance of discretion and privacy and comfort.
There is a pool I believe which I didn’t have the time to try out. Next time
I’d stay here again
I would have like a shower option. But the bath sufficed.
1.0 / 10.0
Nothing and I need my refund.
No heating and TV the room was very cold and bed was bad as well. The guy at the reception tried.

The bedding and towels were clean. They provided small sample toiletries.
The whole place was very run down. It wasn’t good last year, but as the owners had only just taken over, we thought it might have improved and we’re willing to give them another chance. It was in fact worse! They had allocated upper floor rooms although I had told them that we had people with us that couldn’t manage stairs. The only member of staff we saw the whole stay was on reception. She did relocate us, but only after I made a fuss about it. There was no restaurant and no bar that we were aware of. We were of the opinion that it was being used to house refugees.

Good location for seeing the rest of our family and winter gardens. Initially the room looked clean.
Room was tired, needs painting and holes, scruff marks fixing. The bar / lounge and breakfast options were not available. Advertises daily maid service. We never saw a maid and I had to go to reception to request more toilet paper. On 2 occasions I had to go to reception as our door card / key didn't work. If these things were put right it would b a great place and good value for money.

For what I paid I was happy but it's a while since it had any maintenance and either little effort could be made a lot better. Room was clean.
As agreed I arrived to check in at 1am. Reception area was in total darkness so I assumed I was in the wrong place. Eventually I worked it out but the welcome was non-existent. The curtain pole in the shower is mounted so far over the bath the wet curtain sticks to you. There is obvious drug-use and the guy next door was obviously having fun. In the morning there was a smashed whisky bottle on the ground outside the room.

Nothing
The property was more like a halfway motel, woman on the upper floor balcony drinking & smoking with kids running around. Some doors were left open so you could see they were living there plus weed being smoked in the court yd.
The rooms had windows open to obviously get rid of the smell. All the walls, curtains and carpets were stained even the lamp shades were filthy and stained. One window broken, bathroom pre 1960s with mould.
Generally we felt unsafe there so much that after our arrival we went to pub for food then later collected our cases and left to sleep on our friends sofas.
NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE and needs completely modernising. I don’t mind basics but I do expect cleanliness. Was gonna check bed for bugs but didn’t bother as I was furious and there’s no way should this property be on booking.com with anything above 1 star.
Our friend’s daughter who we met for 1st time that night told us good we got out as frequented by undesirables in the area who will have anything they could get their hands on.
Lots more pictures but limited to 4.

Unfortunately nothing.
Looks can be deceiving. So the outside of the rooms etc looks lovely and new. Then totally different when you step into the rooms.
No handle on inside on front door, dodgy locks, not properly secured. Not very clean, lots of broken things in the rooms and very badly maintained, rooms in need of a good freshen up and updated, molde in bathrooms. Not a very pleasant experience unfortunately.
Not worth the money I paid.

Nothing. We checked out on the same day after seeing the state of the rooms.
They did finally refund costs after I complained to Booking.com about the state of the room.
It was dirty, run down and felt unsafe. The window latch was missing, a window pane was broken, the door had obviously been kicked in and the repaired lock was loose. The door didn't fit in the frame. There were handprints on the walls above the bed, massive stains on the carpet and no mattress protector on the bed - just a sheet on a bare mattress. This is a budget hotel so we were not expecting anything special but it was just not clean and didn't feel safe on the ground floor with dodgy windows and doors.
4.0 / 10.0
The design of the building look good but the premises were tired and poorly maintained.
The lock on our room door was hanging with one secure screw. It had obviously been kicked in at some point. The door itself didn’t fit its frame leaving a gap at the bottom side of the door. The bathroom window catch didn’t work well.
A shower in a bath isn’t suitable for elderly people with handles. There were no facilities for breakfast on site despite us specifically asking for B&B
2.0 / 10.0
Free parking. Within 20 minutes drive to wedding destination.
The condition of the room. The carpet was badly stained as was the wall above the bed. The bathroom was covered in black old and rusty appliances. One of the bedside lights was broken. No mattress or pillow protection. No restaurant facilities despite that being on the website.

Location it was close to Alton Towers
Mold in the bathroom, smelt damp looked run down, place was dirty. Electric sockets were either broke or not working. Even with the lights on it looked dark.
8.0 / 10.0
The location was key in our case.
The bath was supposed to assist disabled peopled but there was a notice that said slippy when wet. Bit silly really. If you’re disabled as I am to an extent, There is no way you would get into that bath. Maybe a non slip surface would help
4.0 / 10.0
It did what it said,.had me a night to stay.
There was mould all in the bathroom, above the bath it was quite disgusting to look at and off putting. My kids refused to go in there for a bath or shower as it physically made them feel sick.

Very little. Unwelcoming and dated. Strange atmosphere.
Basic old fashioned motel-style rooms. Small uncomfortable beds. Obviously used to house homeless families. No disrespect to them but strange atmosphere.

Rooms were outdated, broken electric socket and half hanging off wall. Beds comfy the list can go on

Would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy

Location was good, my daughter had a cheer competition at Fenton Manor which was about 6 miles away. The hotel is walking distance (30 seconds) to a corner shop and 3-4 minutes to a local Co-op with cash machine) and a short drive to a Costa and McDonalds. The salon was a great addition as my daughter was able to get her competition hair done professionally in the morning, Marie who is the owner was lovely. The room with two single beds was OK but very dated, old tv, bathroom needs a lot of work etc. I think for the cost of the hotel, it is to be expected. Check in and check out was a 5 second job which was a nice addition to the stay.
Room is dated and could do with general touch up and repairs

No breakfast; no mention; broken window hinge split off wood; no effort to fix; mgt did not care. Ill fitting entrance door; old loo roll on floor not tidied; basin did not drain.

It was in a good location and staff were friendly
It didn’t feel like a hotel at all. It appeared there were a number of people living there. Bedding was clean but the shower dripped loudly all night. No air con.
4.0 / 10.0
The location was very convenient for what I needed, but that was purely coincidental. The price wasn't bad but then felt expensive when I've seen what I was getting for it.
The front door has gaps within the wooden slats, meaning I didn't feel particularly safe.
The bathroom window had no catch on it, so it was either shut or fully open flapping in the wind.
The main light in the room didnt work so had to run off of lamps. And the curtains had to be closed at all times due to people hanging about outside the rooms and the net curtains provided no privacy.
Other residents seemed to be exactly that and living there on a permanent basis, and so washing was being hung out in walkways and were out socialising, smoking, and talking at late hours.
The bed was not comfortable but thankfully I did have 4 pillows which all seemed to be different so I could eventually at least find a comfortable pillow.
As a single female travelling it was not a pleasant stay.
