And being informative - the Islands offer Seaweed specialities. LOVED looking at the rocks that they had recently been given. I appreciated that kind invitation to view.

Great things come in small packages

The cabin is small but adorable with everything you need. It even survived Storm Floris and for that alone it deserves 10 out of 10 😂 I had a small issue with one of the cooking hobs but as soon as I raised this, Charlie brought over a spare to help. There was a very kind man feeding the animals after the storm who let my son help feed the donkeys. I didn't catch his name but he was really lovely and my son was over the moon.

Location was good for Stornoway. Well designed accommodation and very warm. Hosts are friendly. Nice views and on its own, so nobody next door.

One of the gas rings was difficult to light. I tried for up to two minutes before it would stay on. The next time I used it, I didn’t get it to stay on. This limits what you can cook. I would have liked an electric kettle but that’s not a big deal really.

We really loved our stay with Charles and Ginny and couldn’t recommend Macaulay Farm Cabin enough.

We visited Stornoway for Hebcelt Festival with our dog and we couldn’t have asked for better accommodation or hosts. Charles and Ginny were so welcoming and friendly and made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived. The accommodation was comfortable and well stocked with everything you might need for a weekend away, including some local treats provided by our hosts.

The only thing for this particular stay was the fact that we visited at an unusually hot time of the year. The accommodation did feel very warm so a fan would have been great to have.

Peaceful, at Macaulay Cabin I could breathe so easy 🥰

I loved EVERYTHING about Macaulay Farm Cabin! Facilities in the cabin were great and the outlook from both windows private and spectacular. I felt so at peace there. The farm, the animals, the proximity to the Castle Grounds for walks along the Creed river made my stay so lovely. Ginny and Charles are gorgeous hosts. I didn’t want to leave in all honesty.

Stunning little cabin with spaceous and modern interior, including functional kitchen and beautiful decor. The cabin is located next to the farm, where a variety of farm animals can be observed on a short walk. The hosts even left us a variety of Scottish treats, thank you!

There is a bit of a smell from the bathroom drains.

Lovely little studio pod.

Very nice little pod, like a studio apartment on the edge of the farm. Just the right amount of everything you need while you're away. Lovely hosts and were very helpful.

The bathroom was a little musty and could have done with a fan in the main room as it was very warm at night. But very nice otherwise.

We had such a great time at Macaulay Farm Cabin! The cabin was very clean and had all the amenities we could need. The host was very helpful when we called. The views are lovely and we really hope to be back soon! Thank you again for such a fantastic stay.

Lewis and Harris are so beautiful and the farm cabin was comfortable with good space and storage.

Very convenient location. Close to Stornoway and close to petrol stations that sell good sandwiches and cakes etc. The farm cabin was an ideal base from where we could explore the whole of Lewis and Harris.

There was a small TV on the wall, but we couldn't get Freeview on it. It was radio channels only, and the sound quality was so poor we couldn't listen to it.

Great wee cabin with everything you could need for a short stay and an easy location to explore the Island from. The host Charles was very helpful. We would totally recommend the Macaulay Farm Cabin!

A really lovely cabin, we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely love to stay here again in the future! The bed was super comfortable and the room was extremely clean, all of the facilities were great.

Ideal location for me as the purpose of my visit was to spend time with my son who lives in Point. Unfortunately, I did not meet Charles and Ginny. The cabin was spotless, very well appointed and ideal for my needs.

Perfect location especially if you are taking your pets. Peaceful, but only a few mins outside town

Loved that it was pet friendly so we were able to bring our dogs with us. Very comfortable and clean. Had everything that you needed for a 3 night get away. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating.

We loved our little house. Really nothing was missing. So clean and so well organized. The bed was fanatastic. we were 5 nights there. Ginny & Charles were lovely!!

Worth every penny. Fabulous digital detox destination in a scandi-style lodge.

So beautiful! This scandi-style cabin is the perfect place to stay when visiting Lewis. The bed was super comfy. The bathroom was clean, shower had great pressure and I loved the Scottish Soap company products. Kitchen had all of the right items available for us as self catering Last but not least the farm animals... the donkeys, chickens, piggies and goats amongst others were fab to wake up to and go say hi to each morning. We also saw 5 deer and even heard a corncrake on site.

Maybe a blind on the window in the door? I brought an eye mask so it didn't bother me too much but for others it might. No wifi - against it didn't affect me as I had a great 4G connection but if you aren't from this UK Ginny and Charles said it could be arranged in the main house, so no big loss. Plus, you're in the Hebrides so have a digital detox :)

Cosy, modern clean, bijou cabin perfect for exploring all of Lewis. Excellent shower, lovely toiletries. Comfy bed. We managed to cook dinner every night on the 2 ring hob with combi oven.

It could have been tidier outside- I know it is a working farm but maybe round about the cabin you could lay stone chips, a better outside table and maybe 2 wooden outdoor loungers .

Second Choice Would Now Be First Choice!

Photos online don’t do justice - it is a fantastic cabin in a great location. Cosy, modern, and clean. Host made himself known, and if there was a problem said to phone or text but apart from that we were left to it which is great. Cabin was absolutely spotless, it would have even passed a four in a bed type inspection! It’s dog friendly, and the farm is a fantastic little place to explore in between going places.

Only slight little problem, since being asked to find something I didn’t like, the pillows were a little flat and could probably do with being replaced. Maybe it’s personal preference though. Apart from that, nothing!

Lovely cabin for a unique stay

Not far from Stornoway so easy access to places to eat. The cabin is perfect for 2 with the kitchen well equipped for cooking. Cozy even when the weather turns we only had the heater on for very short periods of time. Lovely shower too. Charles is really helpful if you need anything at all.

The cabin is located in with the Macaulay Farm College which does mean during the week there are vehicles turning up to drop off students pre 9am so if you like a lie in earplugs are an idea. This will also combat the noise from the main road which is not far away.

Lovely cabin on Lewis and Harris

Well designed and well made cabin with good facilities. Super friendly host, happy to chat about the island and beaches. Welcoming touches such as biscuits and a few essentials left for us (milk, tea and coffee, etc.).

Closer to the main road than we’d realised but not much traffic noise at night and the cabin is well set back on the farm.
