We arrived a Chalet Cretaz without heating, 8 degrees indoor, no warm water, main gas switched offContacting Massimo by telephone led to some trials to turn on the different facilities eventually with help from a local friend of Massimo arriving the chalet on-site to get some of these things done. That was off course very disappointing and probably not for everyone to waste time negotiating solutions and put on all wollen underwear to sleep the night through in a cold house. Next morning warm water was running but it took the day to proper heating of the stone house, but from then everything worked out fine
So upon this arrival we made an agreement with Massimo to compensate us with no local taxes and bedding for free, in return for a good rating, we think that was fair. We will let it be up to booking.com whether this quite serious mistake candidates for a further price reduction. Visiting earlier comments it has actually happened before, so to be safe we recommend contacting Massimo before arrival to make sure everything is up and running. We arrived in temperatures arund zero, probably -15 or so is even more serious if heating is not started in advance
Massimos POV in a text message was like "...some times problems arise...thats life...". In our POV and to keep the good ratings we suggest Massimo the following Start with easy things: - Make sure to heat up the house, turn on warm water, gas and cooking electricity, that means everything up and running before arrival of new guests- Dry firewood and some pellets to start it up, that goes for tablets to dishwasher as well, would be a nice gesture as well. Both is now at hand by us for the coming guests - Massimo asked us to count what was missing overall when we asked for more cups than the five at hand. We suggest this is Massimos responsibility on beforehand to see nothing is missing.

The chalet is very olde worlde (in a good way!) - it is is in a beautiful old part of Valtournenche and was so incredibly peaceful, we looked forward to wandering back down to it at the end of our day's skiing. The car is parked only a minute's walk away, so it really is very easy. Massimo, the owner, was waiting for us and showed us around the chalet. He was always on hand to answer any questions - he really could not have been nicer nor more helpful. He recommended lots of great restaurants, the best places to park for skiing and was quick to offer advice and help when the chalet was a bit cold on our first night. He was also able to recommend a taxi when we got stuck due to bad weather in Cervinia after they closed the lift back to Valtourneche - A brilliant host. The chalet was incredibly conveniently located for everything in Valtournenche. There is loads of crockery and cutlery, a Nespresso machine as well as a traditional stove top coffee maker, and a dishwasher which was fantastic. We loved relaxing in the chalet so much that we chose to eat in most evenings and play card games. The chalet is really well-equipped, a great shower, super cosy and loads of space for a family of 4.
The only thing that could have improved our stay at beautiful Chalet Cretaz would be better beds/mattresses and perhaps more than one pillow per person (not sure if that is a British thing?). Very minor niggles - there were no tea towels/dish cloths provided for drying up and the kitchen lacked smaller sharp knives, egg cups (me being British again?!), an oven proof dish that would be large enough for 4 people would have been very useful. Otherwise I really could not fault Chalet Cretaz.

amazing chalet, cosy and charming, with fireplace, located into the old burg of Valtournanche. The typical mountain house all around here remind me the village of Harry Potter. I can alsi imaging how beautiful can be during summer time. Host very friendly and professional, always ready to give me information about restarunt and nice place. Absolutely one of the best house I’ve ever been. Recommended!

The host was very friendly. We were provided all the necessary information before the arrival. Moreover, host did provide additional information regarding things to do and places to eat in the area which was very helpful. In addition to this, the host did accept our special request regarding the late check in with no problem. The apartment is cozy and is located in nice, calm and unique neighborhood.

Beautiful chalet with loads of authentic charm! loved the log burner.
really a wonderful location amongst other properties of a similar heritage appearance. in a pedestrian area with cobbled walkways between the chalets.
close to village shops and restaurants and ski bus stop. 2 min walk.
Beds could benefit from an upgrade. certainly the bunk beds.

The chalet is really close to Cervinia in a middle of a village which reminds a lot the movie Narnia.
The house is wonderful, we stayed for 3 days in 8 people and the space was perfect.
The possibility to open the fire is a special tip which creates an amazing atmosphere.
My birthday became even more special thanks to this atmosphere.
We arrived Friday evening and the house was a bit cold because it has been forgotten to open the radiators in the evening, on the other end the girl who is responsable for the chalet was very nice and the house in just one night reached the perfect temperature.
The door of the bathroom on the first floor got caught with no reason but Michela was so nice to solve the problem very quick.

The house is located in a historical part of the village, with narrow pathways winding among the houses. The house is beautifully restored, very comfortable and clean. The living area is spacious, light, big enough to accommodate a family.
The bedrooms are on the lower floor, a little dark, but comfortable.
The village has all the shops, restaurants and cafes needed - and these are for locals, not tourist traps. It is a perfect starting point for hikes and trips.
The hosts were amazingly friendly and helpful, provided us with lots of useful info.

Very cosy home located in the heart of a picturesque little village. The perfect location to stay only 1,5Km away from the Valtournenche gondola and 15 minutes from Cervinia.
The home is advertised as able to accomodate 9 people but only 4 of them are sleeping in proper beds. There are 2 more bunk beds that are very uncomfortable (one was broken when we arrived but fixed during our stay) and 3 more people can sleep in sofa beds that you have to open and close every night and morning because they are located in the main living room. The home is absolutely perfect for 2 couples + 2 kids, but any more people will not be very comfortable.

Such a charming chalet in a cute little hamlet just nicely off the beaten track of the main access road. A short 3 minute walk to 4 or 5 restaurants. the owner Massimo was great and made contact prior to us jumping to a plane to see where he could help. We arrived a little late and his in resort helper Michela was super welcoming even at 10pm.
The chalet has a lovely fire and a open plan kitchen so you feel included in the wine drinking chats in the lounge. the bathrooms are great and it has two all the bedrooms have firm comfortable beds.
Nothing to change …… a great chalet for a great trip

The location is fantastic and convenient to great shops and restaurants- many of which you can walk to. The host was prompt in responding, and Michela is a delight with an answer to all your questions. Michela has suggestions that make your stay even more enjoyable beyond the great views and accommodation. Thank you! We can’t wait to go back.
