Would be fair if would not be smelly

Strong free wifi Good location (in the city while 15min driving to main ski areas) Good heating and warm water in winter Friendly staff Got one extra bed which was not requsted but was helpful as the single bed was pretty comfy. Did not book breakfast.

The smell: strong sewage smell in the bathroom, and same smell but a bit less strong when entering reception and hallway. Had to open window several times to get some air. One day bathroom was cleaned and the sewage smell was replaced by a strong chlorine one, which was better but lasted only till next morning, when sewage returned. The noise: there was no sound insulation. You could hear people on the hallway as they were in your room. Also you could hear the people in the room above walking, talking, running, using bathroom etc. Around 7am all the noise replaced the wakeup call. The window facing the main street could use some black-out window blinds as there is light from cars driving by and street lights. The double bed was a bit uncomfy and squicky. The room was pretty small but manageable.

Great value small Hotel. Everything I expected. Clean sheets, clean towels, comfortable bed. Everything you needed, just all very basic.

Lovely guesthouse with great, kind host, next to train/bus station. Good price.

Lovely comfy guest house/pension in briancon new town, a 5-8 minute walk from the train/bus station. Run by a lovely, kind, friendly, helpful lady who speaks reasonably good English. Very comfy room with large balcony. Rooms on different floors. I was in a simple room with large comfy double bed, with duvet, bed sheets and pillows. Small toilet in a separate room from the sink and shower. Liquid shower jell provided. hand and bath towels provided. Small round table and one chair in room. Small cabinet next to bed. One plug socket next to table, one plug socket behind small cabinet. Breakfast costs 10 Euroso. Breakfast includes, bread, butter, biskuits, fruit, yogat, tea/coffee juice. Bus stop to go to the old town 1 minute walk from pension. Would definitely stay again. Excellent, good speed free WiFi.

No hand soap by sink, had to use shower jell sashay. No lift/elevator to upper floors.

Covered all basis. I did two days here handy for doing a circuit for Galibier. glandon, croix de fer, du hez.

Shower head wouldn't stop in the holder.

Super basic and expensive

Well placed, close to the center and the station. Super simple, if you need a place to casually crash on it's the best. literally a place just to sleep over, no room to do anything else.

Good for one night

Very comfortable bed. Warm - radiator in room worked very well. Rooms clean and possibly recently redecorated. Nice view over communal terrace and mountain. Basic but good shower. Large car park. Good for a nightstop. Warm and friendly Reception.

Quite unpleasant smell in the Reception areas and just outside (drains mixed with cigarette smoke). The towels provided smelt strongly of smoke, which was somewhat off-putting.

Good

Inexpensive. Handy location to stop over after riding across the Alps. Covered motorcycle parking. Terrace with fine views. Despite some of my comments sounding negative, I would happily stay here again if passing by.

Briancon has little to recommend it. A 20 minute walk took me into a largely closed nondescript town with few options for eating out. The room was pretty basic & the whole place rather old and tired. But, to be clear, none of that means it's a bad place; just not one to get excited about.

Pleasant stay in Briançon

This was a pleasant surprise, since the mere look of it was not promising. But the room was big, the beds comfortable and the shower worked fine. The wifi was said to be troublesome, but it wasn't at all, since it was working fine.

The furniture is very old and somebody looking for something modern shall not be satisfied. There is no elevator, so people not able to walk stairs should abstain. The cleanliness was, hmm, improvable.

Pleasant place to stay, wifi needs work

The place was nice, clean and cosy. Parking was easy and fine. It's a short walk to restaurants and town. The room was nice, with a ye olde radiator and pleasant decorations. Shower was good too. Nice views of the mountains from the window/doors.

The wifi didn't work on the 2nd floor, the single bed was pushed into a space just long enough for the bed, so being 6ft+ (190cms) it was a bit of a squeeze. The pillow was huge!
