    We really enjoyed our stay at Candeo, it was great to be so close to train station access, the room was spacious and so comfortable. Loved the Onsen and grateful to find a location where tattoos were acceptable as we did not want to offend anyone. Staff was incredibly gracious. We spent 7 nights here and wish they had a location in Tokyo when we returned there.

    I've been to four hotels in Japan before going to Kyoto. None of them quite matched the satisfaction I got from my stay in CANDEO. It's genuinely a great hotel all around: great staff, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, great facilities and a great location. It's about a 4 minute walk from Karasuma-Oike station and 7 from Karasuma station that most major Kyoto lines pass through. Kyoto's a tough place in July, especially when there's so much walking while sightseeing, and there was never a hotel I loved returning to after a long day more than I did this one. They were really lovely about holding my luggage while I was exploring Kyoto before check-in and I always felt really welcome there. Great value for money too! Highly recommend this hotel!

    My recent stay here was, unfortunately, a major disappointment. While the location was convenient for exploring the city, the experience itself was marred by physical discomfort and baffling service issues. The mattress was incredibly thin and far too soft, offering zero support. I tossed and turned all night and woke up each morning with a terrible backache. It genuinely ruined my energy for sightseeing. Even more frustrating was the hotel's policy regarding the in-room fridge. We had purchased yogurt, eggs, and other perishable breakfast items, only to find the fridge had been switched off at the mains every single day upon our return. We lost a significant amount of food because the hotel kept turning it off (presumably to save energy) without any notice or warning. When we asked reception about it, we received no real solution.
