The view from the room was gorgeous, and the property has a lovely lawn with hammocks to relax. There are a couple of restaurants for breakfast within a few mins walk. The shower temperature and water pressure were excellent.
The bathroom door is frosted glass meaning you may wake your partner at night, however the light in there is very dim (too dim to see properly often). The room could have done with a lamp or soft lighting, and only two towels were provided - we needed a floor mat and hand towel too really. We weren't expecting breakfast but told on arrival it was included, so thought thats why were were charged a little more than advertised... it was youth hostel style with a few items to help yourself and wash up afterwards - very disappointing. The experience felt a little "bare minimum".

Tropic is very tranquil and has a beautiful view of the lagoon. I loved the lagoon view from our room and the hammock on the balcony. We enjoyed hanging out on the lawn and could always find some shade to sit under. It was nice that they had a bar to sell drinks from 11-7. The room was clean and comfortable, but I had to ask for an extra pillow (which they provided). Breakfast is simple with toast, yogurt, fruit, and granola, but it was nice to have.
The lagoon is not very shallow off the deck so it wasn’t very easy for swimming and the shallow parts have a slimy/mushy floor. We ended up going to a nearby beach club with a pool to enjoy time in the water.

Out of the surrounding properties this is from our perspective the one that provides the largest sites per number of guests. The hotel offers a large area with gras to hang around, several hammocks and sundbeds etc. We have seen other hotels, much more pricy ones, that had much smaller space to hang out at the lagoon.
The garden is also very clean and well maintained.
We had a room with garden view and even though the rooms are very basic in terms of equipment it was furnished in a somewhat stylish way that made us feel comfortable.
It is a very relaxed and chilled atmosphere and we really liked our stay there. We can recommend this property to anyone who does not need much luxury in their room and wants to enjoy a good time directly at the lagoon in a quiet environment.
Given that it's roghly a 30 min walk into the center of Bacalar, we believe they should provide some bikes or the like. Other hotels in the neighborhood did that. W/o those is it very difficult to get around if you don't come by car.
The breakfast, as many others already said, is a bit limited but was fine for us (you can make a bowl with fruits, yogurt and granola). What is, however, a negative point that they ask you to clean your dishes yourself after the breakfast - while the staff at the reception was just sitting there for ages checking their smartphone.

the hotel is situated on a really nice spot. the people who work there and the owner are really nice and friendly
the shower was broken. the toilet did not flash at all. the breakfast was very dull. I just think it does not worth the money we paid. staying in the nature next to the lake feels great but i think they should offer better rooms.
