Beautiful home-from-home cosy cottage in a great location.

Violet cottage is a beautiful, cosy cottage in a good location in Combe Martin, about 15 mins walk from the beach, and just a few minutes from local shops and several pubs. The cottage is fully furnished with all mod cons, there is a microwave, washing machine etc in the kitchen and a nice power show in the bathroom. It is down a quiet cobbled alley so very quiet despite handy location. The hosts are extremely responsive, friendly and helpful, replying to messages swiftly. We had a very comfortable and happy stay and if we visit Combe Martin again will be booking Violet Cottage without a doubt.

Nothing. Violet Cottage was just as described. There is no outdoor space but we knew that before we booked.

Beautiful location and charming cottage.

Accommodation perfect for our holiday plans. Very friendly host we contacted by phone. Very quiet and peaceful while being near car parking and facilities. Co-op just a 5 minute stroll away. Very nice not to have to get in the car to go everywhere all the time. But surrounded by places to visit if required.

Bed in first bedroom was noisy…needs tightening up? We ended up sleeping separately for the whole holiday. Lacks some facilities - veg peeler, kitchen scales, small saucepan Kitchen knives need sharpening Now Tv is limited in some ways

Just lovely!

We absolutely loved Violet Cottage! Andrea was so helpful. The house is immaculate, so much character but modern, clean and functional. Everything we could want was there, beds were comfy and it was so clean. Would happily book again!

Nothing was bad! Andrea did tell me in advance there was no baby gate options (we have a 2 year old + newborn) so we were prepared for that. Perhaps more suitable for children above toddler age but wouldn’t let that put you off.

Great holiday cottage

Really well set up, beds were comfy. Nice lounge. Lots of storage in the bedrooms. Everything you need to cook etc in the kitchen.

Bit tricky to find as it’s on a pedestrian lane just off the main road but not a problem once you’ve worked out where it is.

Good size and facilities for family of four

Comfort, size, had everything we needed in it. Good pubs/food in walking distance

No on-site parking, but parking was within 5 min walk and we could unload at property so that was manageable. A bit far to be able to walk to seafront, but parking permit meant we could drive down, and were well located to drive to woolacombe and other beaches as well

July 2021 family stay

The property is clean, bright & modern. It has most of the things you’d expect from a self catering accommodation but there are a few things missing. It’s location in Combe Martin is really good - with easy walking access to shops, pubs & the beach. The cottage isn’t huge but is good as a base.

We unfortunately had a few issues with the neighbours. Whilst they were friendly the property opposite was a party house with loud music blaring & shouting throughout the night. This wasn’t as bad with the windows shut but we were there during the heat wave so shutting windows when it was 20 degrees at midnight wasn’t really an option. The adjacent neighbours were using the path outside the property as a dog toilet. All dog poo was immediately cleaned up but the dog wee was left on the path - again not nice in extreme heat & rather pungent. Whilst this isn’t the owners fault - for these reasons & the parking being a walk away (5 mins) I wouldn’t recommend the property for those with small children. The property could do with adding the following basic items - a rack for the draining board, a bin somewhere upstairs, a plug in kettle. Also having the recycling/bin info in the accommodation folder would be useful. Given bin regimes are different all over the country it wasn’t easy to work out what was what & this would save the owners repeatedly emailing.

Good

Cute, very clean cottage in a lovely Devon village. It had all the basics and was nicely decorated. We enjoyed our welcome cream tea - nice touch. Combe Martin is a lovely village and had good local pubs - great beer gardens for kids and a lovely quiet beach. The cottage is down a little pedestrian lane which worked well with kids though a little harder to move in and out. The parking permit was very handy to have, and the nearby car park pretty much always had space. Communication before we stayed was very clear and easy, and we had a fab holiday.

There could have been more linens. One towel each, no bathmat and not even a dishcloth provided. Shower pressure and drainage weren’t great.
