Welcome to Violet Cottage

The cottage refurbishment was excellent with all “mod cons” that were necessary …even an Alexa. Heating, kitchen, bathroom facilities were exceptional.

The lack of parking. Parking is in a council run car park a short walk away. Drop off to the cottage was not a problem. The host provided a parking permit foc. Unfortunately, parking in Combe Martin is difficult and several times we were unable to use the car park as it was full. The next available car park is a 20 minute walk.

Beautiful. Cosy, clean and brilliant. Does have internet. Has everything you need and there is not a 100 pound bond, I'm not sure why it says that on booking.com. lovely neighbour, great location. Violet cottage is a beautiful, cosy cottage in a good location in Combe Martin, about 15 mins walk from the beach, and just a few minutes from local shops and several pubs. The cottage is fully furnished with all mod cons, there is a microwave, washing machine etc in the kitchen and a nice power show in the bathroom. It is down a quiet cobbled alley so very quiet despite handy location. The hosts are extremely responsive, friendly and helpful, replying to messages swiftly. We had a very comfortable and happy stay and if we visit Combe Martin again will be booking Violet Cottage without a doubt.

Nothing. Violet Cottage was just as described. There is no outdoor space but we knew that before we booked.

The property is clean, bright & modern. It has most of the things you’d expect from a self catering accommodation but there are a few things missing. It’s location in Combe Martin is really good - with easy walking access to shops, pubs & the beach. The cottage isn’t huge but is good as a base.

We unfortunately had a few issues with the neighbours. Whilst they were friendly the property opposite was a party house with loud music blaring & shouting throughout the night. This wasn’t as bad with the windows shut but we were there during the heat wave so shutting windows when it was 20 degrees at midnight wasn’t really an option. The adjacent neighbours were using the path outside the property as a dog toilet. All dog poo was immediately cleaned up but the dog wee was left on the path - again not nice in extreme heat & rather pungent. Whilst this isn’t the owners fault - for these reasons & the parking being a walk away (5 mins) I wouldn’t recommend the property for those with small children. The property could do with adding the following basic items - a rack for the draining board, a bin somewhere upstairs, a plug in kettle. Also having the recycling/bin info in the accommodation folder would be useful. Given bin regimes are different all over the country it wasn’t easy to work out what was what & this would save the owners repeatedly emailing.
