Bad value for money and disingenuous images on listing

It was clean and tidy

Disappointing stay – not as advertised We booked this property based on the photos and description, but unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. While it was tidy on arrival and had clearly been cleaned well, the overall condition fell short of what was shown online. Many rooms had chipped paint, the carpet in one bedroom was ripped, and the bathroom door had visible holes. The kitchen was surprisingly small for a house advertised to sleep seven — it could only seat three people at the table, and there weren’t enough utensils or cutlery for a full group. The living room seated only five, the garden had space for six, yet the listing stated capacity for seven. For the price charged, the property did not reflect the quality or comfort we expected. The owners should consider updating the photographs to reflect its current state, making repairs to furniture and fixtures, and ensuring that seating and equipment match the advertised capacity. For future guests, be aware that the property’s layout and amenities may not suit larger groups, and you might find yourself short on space and resources if you arrive expecting the features shown in the listing.

Location was close enough to what we required.

It looked a little tired. Neighbours we’re noisy during the night. No dropped kerb to pull car onto drive. Bins over flowing on arrival, not a great first impression.

Great house in quiet location

Clean, tidy and well equipped. Great quiet location near the Meadows riverside park and about a mile pleasant walk to city centre.

Chester with the family

Very roomy. Nice to have 3 bedrooms for my family. Parking on driveway was great. The location is good for walking into town.

The fit and finish of the house is a bit amateur. Was a little worn. Needs some remodeling. The main concern was a bad odour in the kitchen area, the source of which we never did find. The owners said they would look into it.

It was an ok stay, for our circumstances, some very good points but a few disappointing aspects.

Location was good for walking into town. Hosts responded well to query about heating. Beds were comfortable. House was clean Plenty of hot water

Kerb needs dropping for access, a number of guests have said same thing. Living room; sofas not adequate for 4 adults, everyone pushed up close together and not particularly relaxing for after a day out walking and sightseeing. Certainly not adequate for 6 or 7 people which is how many the house could sleep. Bedrooms too small for super king beds. Hardly room to walk around bed. Booking .com listed 2 bathrooms but only one and downstairs toilet, both very small. Although 53 degrees listed one and half bathrooms. Kitchen adequate but minimum equipment for cooking. Only 4 dessert spoons, no serving spoons. Dining table seats 4 people. I am writing this as someone who runs a holiday cottage not just a picky guest. For the price and from photos, I expected a bit more. 🤔

Quiet location with short walk into town

Property was quite clean, with suitable lounge room space for family. Kitchen facilities were ok. Beds were comfortable, but note that they are only doubles / queen beds (not extra large/king). Easy access to property through key box. Reasonably short walk into town, and quiet location.

The kitchen table only seated 4 (even though the property can supposedly sleep up to 7 people!). Only one bathroom (and additional toilet) even though my search function specifically asked for two bathrooms - my error for not double checking this. Bathroom was tiny for 5 people and bedrooms were very small. Supply of body wash would have been appreciated.

Excellent facilities within the property!

We liked how spacious the bedrooms and kitchen were. Its located in a beautiful area with shops, restaurants very close by.

It could do with redecorating some of the rooms as there were some areas that need to be painted again.

The location was decent, the property was clean, it was nice that there were tea bags.

The drive didn't have a dropped curb, so getting in and out there a was a big bump. Also, would have been nice if there was some shampoo in the bathroom.

Went as working but husband came with me and really enjoyed walks along the river and around area.

Location was ideal as working in Handbridge the properties location. Allowed pets and had everything we needed for our stay

Not aware the property had two floors i.e. stairs as have bad knees, may have been my mistake when booking. However downstairs toilet was great and really appreciated be able to bring our two pets.

Great host, great house, great location and nice price

I am originally from Chester and went to the local high school so knew that Handbridge was the perfect location to town. You can walk into town via the Suspension Bridge and home via the old bridge on Bridge Street. We travelled with three teens and the house was perfect. Great to park and walk into town, no parking fees. The sandwich shop in Handbridge is amazing! And the co-op was a great little shop for most of our needs. We made a meal in the house and had all of the amenities/kitchen utensils necessary. Everything had been thought about. Rio was a great host, very attentive. I will be back in Chester to visit family and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

plenty of room and very clean which is very important to us

there wasn’t anything that I disliked, only a couple of minor things which would make it better. I would have liked some form of blinds in the bedrooms as had to keep curtains closed just to change and also a long mirror in one of the bedrooms. As we were there for a funeral, a long mirror would have helped to check our appearance.

Excellent Chester Accommodation

Going into a warm comfortable house on a very cold evening. Being able to accommodate 5 adults more sociably than rooms in a hotel and excellent value compared to a hotel/BB rooms for up to 7 people. Parking for 2 cars on the paved front was also most convenient. Close to town, less than twenty minutes walk.

Excellent location with comfy beds for all.

Excellent location for us and the dog - easy walk into town and good flood plane to walk the dog around nearby. Excellent and prompt communication from the owners/landlords. We did use the bed settee in the lounge. This was very comfortable and an excellent addition.

Description on booking.com advised 2 bathrooms, however there is only 1 bathroom and 1 cloakroom. The properties actually website is correct. 2 bathrooms would have been useful for 7 adults and was one of the reasons we booked this property through booking.com but this did not spoil our stay.

Great location, easy walking distance to Chester. Very cosy and well equipped. Needs dishwasher in kitchen but can't fault otherwise. Us, the in-laws and our 7 year old had lovely time. Would recommend.
