Small but cozy, great location to walk into Chester

Only real issue was there was no hot water in the main bathroom sink at the Grosvenor Apartment.

It was a good stay, but they need to fix some things.

It was a nice and modern apartment, and in a great location and a comfortable bed.

The tv in the bedroom wasn’t working properly, and I booked because it was advertised as having a hot tub but didn’t, also i paid for secure parking but the gate was stuck open the entire time.

Quite a nice flat and would be an easy 10 if it had a good clean.

Nice and close to the canal walk, train station and city centre.

Could have been cleaner. There was no dish washing liquid or anything to clean with and therefore most of the cups etc and cutlery needed a good wash. I did buy detergent and kitchen cloths and washed things. Shower needs a clean as there’s mould all along the doors.

Cold at start and difficult to find

It was clean and decent.

The location instructions tell you to enter from one street, but it's not. The Google Pin sent you to the main street, which also has a digital code to access, and obviously doesn't work. After going around for over 1 hour in the cold, and after almost jumping fences, we finally found the place from an opposite road by the canal. No one answered the phones, and they did not follow after the next few days. For the price, some complementary cookies and decent coffee machine would have been appreciated. Also, on the arriving evening, it was as cold inside as outside.

SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD - TRAPPED DURING POWER CUT I booked this property for 30 nights in October 2025 and had to leave 17 nights early due to serious safety concerns. THE CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE: On 7 October, during a power cut, I discovered I was trapped within the property grounds with no way to exit to the main road. The only gate is electric with no manual override or alternative exit. I had to trespass through neighbouring properties and ask residents for gate codes to escape. In a fire emergency with power loss, guests would be trapped. FIRE SERVICE INVOLVEMENT: I reported this to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, who confirmed the property had been inspected in September 2025 under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 with "some items for attention." They are now investigating my specific complaint about emergency egress during power failure. PROPERTY OWNER'S RESPONSE: When I raised this serious safety issue, the owner's team (Rafael/PolkaStays): Dismissed it as just an "alarm issue" Blamed me for not requesting basic supplies for a month-long stay Offered £24 compensation Refused to address the fundamental problem: guests cannot safely exit during power failure OTHER ISSUES: Emergency phone number didn't work during the alarm Promised callback never came Inadequate supplies for 30-night stay despite £60 cleaning fee Property advertised as "luxury" but far below standard OUTCOME: I formally demanded a refund of £2,502 for unsafe accommodation under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The owners have not responded. DO NOT BOOK if you value your safety. The question remains: if guests can't exit during a power cut, how could emergency services enter to rescue trapped occupants during a fire? Beautiful apartment however basic touches missing and very poor shower

Beautiful apartment. Easy instructions. Secure parking.

Only 1 toilet roll provided for 4 night stay. Shower not powerful and unable to control temperature so child unable to use. No dish cloth etc to do dishes. Tv in bedroom did not work properly. Only 2 towels provided - could have more for an additional charge! Not things you expect for a property described as luxury.

Fair but glad to be staying only one night

Good location and parking. Double bedroom was nice size.

The shower needs bleaching all around the bottom, there was some mould and mildew and the shower doors didn't quite close together. The area around the sink and bin in the kitchen was a bit scratched and needs repainting, made it look a little scruffy. It's extremely hot in the mezzanine - managed to find a fan in the bedroom but was difficult to sleep properly with the fan running as well as the lights from the car park coming in through the tops of the windows - maybe some blinds or longer curtains would help. There were also exposed wires from a smoke alarm on the ceiling up there too.

Nice chilled weekend,would stay again .

Property was in a prime location,lovely walk on the canal ,very quiet and secure . Everything you need for self catering is provided,there is nothing else we needed . Decor was really nice,property very clean (except for a issue I’ve described below)

We didn’t like the mold on the bottom of the shower,seal needs replacing asap ,bedroom very hot but that is just the time of year we visited but a fan is provided. Toilet seat was very loose ,my partner who has just had a hip replacement could have had an accident,this should have been picked up when cleaning the apartment.I did not contact the property to rectify as it was quicker for me to fix myself so bathroom could be used .

Great location, but the luxury element was non existent - plastic dining chairs, need I say more.

The apartmentwas mainly clean, modern and in a good location near the centre of Chester. The secure parking, albeit at a nominal additional charge, was ideal.

The apartment could not be described as luxurious . The kitchen was poorly equipped - no oven gloves (a H&S concern), no serving spoons or bowls for microwaving food. All basics in any rental property. Apart from a sponge/scourer and some washing up liquid, there were no cleaning products or tools, surprising when guests are asked to leave the apartment clean as others would wish to find it. Although the apartment is for two there were four of most things except glasses. An attentive owner would ensure breakages were replaced, especially when guests are required to pay a damage waver/disclaimer. There were no instructions for any of the appliances and try as I might I could not get the TV to connect to the internet although there was evidence that this was possible. The hot tub in the courtyard garden was not working and had not been for some time. The courtyard itself was weedy. The blind in the bedroom was broken. The bathroom was so small you could not clean your teeth over the narrow sink as it was tucked under a mirrored cabinet. The shower area was grubby and the extractor fan was broken. As for the quality of PolkaStays customer service, this was abysmal - there was never any one on hand to deal with issues, and messages and emails were either unanswered or selectively answered much later. The coup de gras, however, was the fact that on two consecutive days the fire alarm was activated trapping guests within the complex as the electric gates out of the car park became deactivated. I was trapped for 3 hours on the 2nd occasion. No space left for the full story of what transpired but due to the medical needs of a fellow guest the fire brigade was called who also could not gain access so summoned the electric company. The fire brigade confirmed the electic company had supposedly systematic started cutting power for 8 hours a day due to a dispute over non/late payment of their bills by PolkaStays.

Great little apartment

The location was perfect, the canal is situated right outside the property with a lovely walk into the city centre. The accommodation was inside an electric gate with carpark and a lovely seating and bbq area. The apartment was lovely with balcony doors which opened wide. Everything you needed even a washing machine.

Need a fan in both bedrooms as we were south facing it was really hot in there so much so we had to leave the balcony doors open all night which attracted moths and bugs in🫤 having said that we had a brilliant time and I have fallen in love with Chester and can't wait to return

Great modern apartment

It's located outside the City centre, but only a ten, fifteen minutes walk. There's a nice canal side walk, or you can walk the road way. The apartment was very clean and modern with a comfortable bed, bathroom with shower and kitchen / living area and TV. Lovely outside patio area. Excellent secure reserved car parking. Waitrose supermarket is a five minute walk along the canal.

Only a few minor criticisms. There was black mould around the bottom of the shower, a loose toilet seat, and no can opener!

Lovely apartment in a great location, just bring your own supplies!

Great location, small apartment but perfect for two people

Mattress was VERY uncomfortable and there was no kitchen roll or j-cloths, no dishwasher tablets and no laundry pods (normally hosts leave 2-3 tablets in a container). One toilet roll for a six night stay was disappointing! We flew in so had to buy lots of extra supplies and a French press for coffee.

Our Stay in Chester.

The location was excellent with good parking. The apartment was a new build and well presented.

The outside area including the apartment garden was well laid out but really spoiled by lack of attention to keeping weeds down and cleaning up some litter,beer cans and branches which had blown in from adjacent properties. The mattress needs to be replaced immediately due to broken springs at one side.

Disappointed

Good location, clean

I wanted accommodation for three adults over 60 years. The bedroom was fine but the second sleeping place was a mezzanine floor off the living room more suitable for children. It was very hot there and there were no high level curtains to block the light. The bathroom sink didn’t drain efficiently. The electric shower failed during its second use. The shower tray filled with water during use. There was supposed to be a spa pool we were looking forward to using but it was clearly out of service and had been for sometime.

Lovely, clean apartment in great location.

Modern apartment with all of the facilities we needed. Location was great and it was nice & quiet but easy to walk into town and to get to the train station. Very handy having an allocated parking space. It was very clean.

I wasn’t aware that the twin beds were on a mezzanine level so that was interesting having to climb up into bed each night (especially as I was travelling with my 63 year old father!) but we coped. The bathroom was quite small and not ideal for my 6ft 5 brother in law either. I would suggest leaving a small face towel for each guest as well as a larger towel as we only had one bath towel each and a small hand towel for drying hands. We also ran out of loo roll pretty quickly so for a 3 night stay it would have been good if more was provided but we managed to get some from a local shop.

Nothing luxury about our stay but clean and comfortable

The noise above was horrendous, we were going to cut our break short because of this and also the name luxury isn’t really apt as these weren’t luxury at all from the finishing touches to the power shower that just dribbled out, small towels well washed.

Great location, good space but needs updating.

Great location. Quiet. The big windows were lovely. Nice to have private parking but our space was taken by another guest the entire stay. The hosts did try to get them to move and I understand not their fault but did impact our stay adding unnecessary stress.

Parking issue was very frustrating. Also the flat felt a bit tired and unfinished. Lots of marks on walls and obvious paint fixes that weren't blended in / wrong white was used. Blind in the bedroom but no curtain so lots of light leaking through. The second "bedroom" is a loft - which is fun - but no curtains or blinds on top part of living room windows so very bright for those sleeping there. Seems obvious oversight. Cobwebs and marks on hob. Just generally tired. And beds were quite soft and saggy. And sofa uncomfortable.

Very disappointing as I booked this for a hot tub only

I booked this property after staying in another property in the complex seeing that they had a hot tub only to get into the property after I’ve already paid to find out the hot tub was dirty and unfunctional I only booked this property for this feature! I contacted the property to be told that the hot tub facility would be an extra option to pay on there website none of this was stated before paying for this property I feel Asif this property has been very miss sold since the description of the property states the main feature off this property being the hot tub only!

It was so hot, even without and heating devices on. Also could have been cleaner, lots of dust and crumbs when first arrived. The shower was very disappointing.
