Dukes' Palace Brugge - by Dukes' Hotel Collection

Liked quiet location, peaceful and tranquil. Enjoyed sitting out in garden by bar.

Didn't think it was 5 stars- didn't shout of luxury.

Location, overall palatial feel .. superb breakfast for us ( vegetarian)

Spa was booked for almost a week ..

Loved everything

The room was of adequate size. The bed was very comfortable as was the pillows. These were 1st class The cleaning and daily bedroom refreshment was also very good.

A few things to consider with the room: electric points. Double socket issues - if one item was plugged into one of the double sockets then the second socket would not work. The water pressure was veery poor and on all days the shower stopped during a shower (covered in soap). The bath plugs did not work as they should and we could not fill the bath either. We had friends in the adjoining room who had the exact same issues, so it was not just our room. We reported this to reception who said they would look into this. Note - we were on the fifth floor (superior rooms), so maybe try to ask for a room on a lower level to get better water pressure. Breakfast: Breakfast is 38 Euros per person and was told this at reception. Arriving at the breakfast room, we were told that as we had not booked in advance, the cost would be 42 Euros per person. This was not explained at reception and there does not appear to be any justification in charging an additional 4 Euros p/p on the day. However, we did find a great Cafe through the passage between the Hotel and main square which served a fantastic breakfast and was half the cost. One last point - if you like your food then avoid the main square.
