About this cabin rental

Utopia is a waterfront cabin located on 4 acres overlooking Oil Creek in Derby Indiana. Originally constructed in 1849 and dismantled and moved to its current location today in 2019. It offers a queen bed in the upstairs sleeping loft and a futon on the main floor. Wi-Fi is now available in the cabin. It has 1 bathroom with a washer and dryer also. The kitchen has a full-size stove and refrigerator. The hot tub is located on the front porch overlooking the grounds and creek. Hot tub is cleaned between stays and will require time to reheat. We have a fire pit off the deck. A charcoal grill is provided but you need to bring your own charcoal. Utopia is a short walk to the Mogan Ridge Trailhead. Utopia is the perfect place for a small family to come relax and enjoy a fishing trip or a relaxing getaway.
The Derby Community Center and park is located in Derby just a short drive away. They host many events and also have a boat ramp into the Ohio River. There are basketball courts, swings, slides, a shelter house at the park.

Authentic cabin experience with present day amenities. Property with mature trees and quiet sprawling hills overlooking the creek. Hot tub was great. Tell City is a beautiful short drive away. There is no internet at cabin and cell service is very limited. Could use some towel bars, caulking, cubbard cleaning and dish expansion,and some furniture updating. A/C had issue keeping up as it was in the 90s though. Take extra fans to circulate air up to loft sleeping area. Would return again, as the value is there, just needed a little more.

Great little cabin in secluded bliss. Was surprised there was no wifi. Ladder to get upstairs steeeeep. Not for elderly people unless they slept in living room on futon. Hot tub great! (Needs braced underneath before it collapses.) If you plan to eat in take groceries with you. No big stores around and the Derby Market and General Store are . Overall a great little cabin in the woods.

The property was beautiful. Cabin homey and clean. Our stay was so peaceful and relaxing. The only thing would be to include that no WiFi and low reception, you are pretty much not going to have any connection. We enjoyed our time walking beautiful trails and relaxing with good books.

Amazing stay for Valentine's Weekend with my partner. The property manager's communication was very courteous and helpful. The property is great, remote enough to feel private, but still only a few minutes away from the general store, which has pretty much anything you might need. There's only one cabin within eyesight from the back deck, and only during the day. Loved the hot tub and got our money's worth out of it. The cabin was roomier than we were expecting, with a very well equipped kitchen, even had an electric mixer, which I wasn't expecting. The loft is pretty bare bones and the stairs up to it are steep, but neither were a real problem. There were plenty of towels provided. And even air mattresses that the two of us didn't need, with those, it could definitely easily comfortably accommodate a family. Very positive stay overall.

The cabin is in a beautiful area with hiking near by. It felt very private and had everything we needed for a weekend away. The kitchen was great to cook in and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. If you have a low profile car, go extraordinarily slow on the gravel driveway. There is also almost no cell signal, so keep that in mind if you need to keep in contact with anyone.

We stayed here with our Daughter and our dog for my Wife's Birthday. Love the Cabin and property Weber Grill and fire pit outside makes for a great camp feel. Indoor fire stove is small so bring small pieces of wood if intend to have a fire. the stairs are pretty steep so the dog would not go upstairs in the loft area. Kitchen is well equipped for a weekend stay, Hot tub was clean and nice and hot!

Only thing I would change wish there was internet at the cabin, and there would of been a sign to show the address took awhile to find the cabin to make sure we was going to the correct one. But other than that very nice and cozy cabin! Very clean and taken care of!

Much needed restful weekend getaway with my husband. If you’re looking for seclusion, you’ll find it here. So Peaceful - literally only heard nature sounds for our 3 day stay. If you need entertainment, bring your own - with no WI-FI and only a few channels on TV, you’d be wise to bring cards, board games, DVDs, etc. Cannelton was a fun little town to explore. We also enjoyed a few local eateries, wineries, and antique shops.

The Utopia cabin was a pleasant experience. The driveway could use a little more gravel. The 1849 on the cabin confused us when we were looking for the address, but we compared it to the pictures and knew it was the correct one. We would definitely recommend it to other people. My 5 year old got freaked out by a big spider right next to the door frame, and after laughing I explained to her that's part of the outdoor cabin experience. Could include more toilet paper and dish soap, but overall a wonderful experience.

Cabin is nice, except for the problem with the front door, which needs to be addressed. It was quiet and peaceful, we loved the ambiance of old wood logs rooms. The hot tub was great. We brought our own airbeds and bedding. I can't do stairs, or ladders. So the living room was nice, large enough for our king bed and the other couches there. I cooked our meals, kitchen works good. Was surprised that nothing is furnished in there, not even a salt and pepper shaker. Luckily I brought most of what I needed and then pick up other things at the market in Derby. I got stung by a bee in the middle of the night that had got in bed with me, ouch, that throbbed all night. But the next night was better. So glad for our really nice firewood that we brought. We had a great campfire and made small fire in the woodstove in the living when we went to bed and then when in the morning. Shower works great, nice, really hot water. I liked the fact that the property is kind of away from others, so it was quiet. We well surely book again, hopefully in the fall.
