"Cosy, lovely fireplace, great location. Spacious enough for us 2.
It was doing this New Years 2024! I reported it then. To return a year later to find it’s still not fixed properly was annoying."

The tap in the bathroom that won’t stop running/dripping.

Lovey situation in a beautiful village. Property was clean and has good amenities.
However , as others have said no welcome pack as stated .. even a pint of milk would have been welcomed ( if you arrive late local shop won’t be open ). Heating control , even following instructions, was unresponsive . ( property was too warm - stifling). There was a leaky tap , which a note had been left saying they were aware of and repair was pending, but we had a four day stay with the constant noise of a tap running which quickly became irritating.

Great location , lots of walks and great pubs. Cottage was very warm and clean.
My only slight and a very slight dislike was the bed was a little to firm for me but that’s me been very picky.

When I booked I thought we had parking on site as I used the parking filter, we arrived and there is no parking plus a “do not load or unload here “ sign outside the cottage.
There was no welcome pack , maybe because we didn’t stay a full week

Perfect location in castleton with proximity to all shops, bars and restaurants. But also close to all the main walks and point of view.
Nothing, all good

Having been to Castleton previously but not staying there we were aware of the cottage location, it's perfect. It's super cosy with underfloor heating..an open fire to sit around on the cold nights, with a bottle of wine of course. Plenty of wildlife to see out the windows in the morning and of course the views of Man Tor.
Within a few seconds to a few minutes walk there's cafes, shops and pubs.
Large car park opposite, not too pricey.
The view of the hills are great and there's plenty of walks to do.
At the cottage the bathroom was a little small, difficult to shave at the sink.

The location of the cottage is spectacular. It is central to everything you want to do in Castleton. There's a view of the castle from the single bedroom - a bonus we hadn't expected. The cottage is extremely clean and cozy. The parking lot is conveniently located across the street. Everything we needed - from dishes to laundry tabs - was already in the cottage. Instructions and recommendations supplied by the owners were very thorough and appreciated.
The main sofa needs replacing as the seat cushions have totally collapsed. The sink in the bathroom is barely wide enough for a grown man to stand at and shave or brush his teeth (it's an old building and space is obviously limited so this is an observation rather than a criticism).

Absolutely beautiful cottage with all home comforts and more. Lovely surprise of chocolates and fizz drink on arrival. Every aspect of this delightful holiday cottage was fantastic from location to comfort of beds.
This is a prize gem of a place, especially loved the super friendly duck who liked to chill out on the private terrace.
Nothing.

Excellent location and very well appointed accommodation. We really loved our stay. Host had left stocks of teabags, coffee, sugar and washing machine capsules which was very helpful. It was possible to walk directly from the house as well as drive to car parks further away. In terms of parking, we found space to park in nearby streets each night. This might be harder in high season. There is a car park more or less opposite the property but costs would have mounted up had we had to pay for the week.
There was no socket in the bathroom suitable to charge my electric toothbrush. Other than that, everything was wonderful !

1. The location was perfect. Close enough to the pubs and shops, but on the edge of the town so not too busy.
2. Within easy reach of the hills.
3. It was nice that there were sandwich bags provided, cling film and loads of other useful kitchen bits and pieces.
4. We lost the back door key and did not get fined for this.
5. The cleaning had been done to a very high standard.
6. There were guides to the area, novels and games in the sitting room.
7. The air was fresh and lovely.
8. People around were friendly but not intrusive.
9. Food is good; shops have all you'd need.
1. I had asked the management company before we booked if there would be a desk upstairs with a view and did not get a correct response. In the event there was not.
2. I had received several messages from Booking.com right up until the last minute saying that there was still a procedure to go through before confirmation. Eventually I phoned the letting agent who said this was probably a mistake by Booking.com.
3. I received a message from the owner via the letting agent inviting me to "have a drink on us." Upon arrival the aforementioned drink was not there. Not that I expected it, but if you're not going to leave it, why mention it?
4. The nicely-bound instruction book is pretty good. However, it assumes that everyone is familiar with an induction hob. I was not, and had to phone up to be told how it works. Why not explain it in the manual?
5. The knob from the cupboard door had come off before we arrived and instead of being fixed on again, it had been put in the cupboard.
6. Phoning the management company is not as easy as it could be. You have to select from a series of numbers. When you get through, it is clear that the team are not familiar with the property. The company also seems to have misunderstood data protection and pointlessly take you through "security" in situations when it is unnecessary to do so. For example, when the staff phoned me back to give me the good news that the owner was not going to charge me for the key, they took me through security again. But no personal data was being exchanged, so no need for security checks.
These are all minor quibbles. It was a wonderful stay.

Lovation was fantastic and the place was finished off to a very high standard.
Heating wasnt the best. Upstairs each room had radiator so got very hot but downstairs was underfloor heating so massive temperature gradient so much so we sometimes didnt sit downstairs. Bed wasnt very comfortable, firm mattress and pillows (but that is dependant on individuals).

Location was perfect and the accommodation had everything we could have asked for. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk, salt, pepper, washing tabs, dishwasher tabs, bin bags, etc.- those things that are nice to have but not essential were all provided and appreciated.
Closer car parking would be wonderful as it was a bit of a mission with a baby, still good to have though.
We were distressed when it was raining and booking.com provided the wrong pass code for the key box. Better to get that right in future.

The location of this cottage is superb. It's directly opposite the tourist information centre, close to the main high street and really easy to walk from here to Mam Tor and all of the nearby caverns like Treak Cliff, Blue John & Speedwell Cavern. All of these are well worth the visit too. And there are 4 or 5 country pubs and a restaurant really close by too! Brilliant
The kitchen was really well equipped, (there was even a garlic crusher in the drawer) and the high standard of refurbishment undertaken by the owner is spot on.
The parking area is a little difficult to find and about a 4 minute walk away. Having said that, we were able to drop off our luggage at the cottage door first and then take the car to the parking zone. We stayed at the cottage for just under a week and didn't actually need to use the car even once! Therefore, all in all it was no problem at all. On the day we were leaving, we just went and picked up the car when we were ready to go we loaded the boot from the front door in the same way as we unloaded it on arrival. No stress, no real issue.

Great location In the middle of Castleton, The cottage is small but comfortable and decorated to a high standard throughout. Really couldn't fault the presentation. The owners have gone to great lengths to add charm and character to this property.
Lack of parking at the cottage. Although parking was made available at another property this was some way off. the main carpark charging £7 per day. Although parking further along street is free during the week. A bigger bed in the small room would have been nice (a small double rather than a single).
