I've wanted to stay in Castleton forever, and its location- you couldn't get more central than this, nor could you get more well-planned for its compactness. My husband and I had a wonderful stay where we could both easily get to the caverns and shops in the village, and could roll out of bed and practically be in the cafe next door for breakfast, or close to a walk among the pretty houses and sheep-laden fields nearby. The place was perfect for our staying in cosily and watching the ducks and crows peck their way across the drive on the rainy day too.

It feels rather cheeky to say that there IS parking. What there is is a massive sign that says no parking or unloading at any time on the drive - understandable, as it leads up to what I assume is the host's house - but it DOES. NOT. HAVE. ITS. OWN. PARKING. I specifically searched for it, knowing that there was one huge main car park in Castleton, but that you're paying roughly £8 a day to keep your car there. We luckily were usually able to find some free spots around the corner, but tree sap and birds have necessitated me getting the car washed anyway. This didn't help my fibromyalgia needs, which was one of the reasons I ticked 'parking' in my original search. Secondly and rather bizarrely, I reached out to ask if they had a washing machine. I was told they didn't. Annoying, but we'd figure something out. Then we got there and found there WAS a washing machine in the outhouse right next to the side door. There was even a tumble dryer, so that was... odd.

The location was great. Very clean and cosy

No parking facilities. Would be ideal if a parking permit was supplied with the booking for the near by car park.

The tap in the bathroom that won’t stop running/dripping. It was doing this New Years 2024! I reported it then. To return a year later to find it’s still not fixed properly was annoying.

Lovey situation in a beautiful village. Property was clean and has good amenities.

However , as others have said no welcome pack as stated .. even a pint of milk would have been welcomed ( if you arrive late local shop won’t be open ). Heating control , even following instructions, was unresponsive . ( property was too warm - stifling). There was a leaky tap , which a note had been left saying they were aware of and repair was pending, but we had a four day stay with the constant noise of a tap running which quickly became irritating.
