Perfect base for our explorations

It was a perfect spot for our home base to explore the region. The cottage was clean and comfortable and Ben was very responsive whenever we had a question.

Stairs might be challenging for people who are mobility impaired. There is limited taxi service in the region.

A charming cottage full of character and in a perfect location. Kitted out with everything that was needed for a self catering stay, clean and cosy. Excellent and clear communications from the host throughout. Would stay again and will recommend.

Lovely cottage nestled in a quiet corner

The cottage is placed in a very unique and pretty location and is quiet! Easy access to town and walking routes and at the doorstep of the peak cavern which we enjoyed a tour of. The facilities provided were useful for us as we stayed for 5 days and cooked on a couple of occasions for 6 people. Ben had provided a helpful guide before we arrived as well and check in was easy.

Rated a 7 as the standard of cleanliness and decor could have been better. Ben was quick to address some issues on cleanliness when we arrived which we appreciate so much. It's such a lovely cottage and location which could be elevated by addressing these areas.

Wonderful escape in an idyllic Peak District village!

Loved everything about Cliffe cottage- the beautiful stone, cosy decor, 3 bedrooms and especially the picturesque and convenient location. The cottage is an easy scenic stroll to all the village pubs, stores and attractions.

I didn’t want to leave and it was not cold enough for a fire!

Beautiful cottage in beautiful location ❤️

Had a lovely two days stay with my son the cottage was so Spacious, the kitchen is well equipped . Lounge and dining area was very Comfortable and cosy as well as the bedrooms. I particularly liked that there was a bath, very welcoming after a long hike😊 The location was perfect , couldn’t ask for better😊 and the free parking was a real bonus. Ben was a great host, gave clear instructions and was happy to help with any inquiries that l had. I will definitely be booking again but for a longer stay next time.

Location was really good. Within close proximity to village shops. Also stone throw from Peak Cavern. Parking was also nearby.

Great base for a walking break in the peak district

Fantastic location, 5 mins walk to village centre and in a lovely quiet spot. The 3 bedrooms and all the beds were clean, comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen and lounge had everything you'll need for a self catering break. There are some iconic walks direct from the cottage without the near to travel further afield. The pubs and cafe's of Castleton are very close and there are plenty eating options if you fancy a break from self catering. The home made pies in the Cheshire Cheese pub are a must try. The curry cabin in near by hope village is also very nice, it doesn't serve alcohol but you can take your own from the spar next door. We actually brough pints in from the pub directly opposite, odd but great. The cottage has a parking pass for the near by car park which is a couple of minutes walk from there to the cottage. Overall great for couples or a small group like ours , the place could accommodate up to 6 people at a push, I'd gladly rebook again.

Whilst it wasn't a major issue the electrical shower wasn't great and it was difficult to maintain a steady comfortable temperature, the bath on the other hand was fine. We tried to get the heating on one day but only the upstairs radiators got hot, as it was our last day we didn't contact the owner but I think this needs investigating.

Exceptional apartment in an amazing location near caves and within picture-perfect village.

Location was fabulous - near the cave entrance and within a picturesque village. Facilities and size of apartment were great with comfortable space for all the family. Ease of keeping the place warm and host was very responsive and helpful in communication flows.

A disappointing stay because of the poor state of cleanliness, and unpleasant odours.

The property would have been nice if it was clean. However, the main living spaces had not been properly cleaned before arrival, soft furnishings were visibly dirty and smelled bad downstairs, and proper cleaning of some areas had not been conducted for months.

Perfect stay in Castleton

Everything! The cottage was very nice and picturesque in a great location, right in the heart of Castleton. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with great facilities, including a great kitchen and bathroom, with no issues whatsoever. We would happily stay here again!

There is nothing we didn't like. We slightly messed up on the parking, which was our own fault as we forgot to put the permit in the car window. Although we didn't get fined, our car did get blocked in by a disgruntled resident and was difficult to get out.

Great little cottage

Excellent little cottage in a great location if you're looking to hike around the area. Beds were super comfortable which was perfect after hiking all day. Pretty clean apart from a few dog hairs which is to be expected.

Extra toilet roll and dishwasher tablets could be provided as we ran out during our stay. Heating coming on in the night meant we had to open windows but not a big issue.

Fantastic location

The cottage was lovely and in a fantastic location next to Peak Cavern. Ben, the owner, was very quick to answer any query. It was a great place to spend time with family. I would definitely recommend this cottage. All the people we met were friendly and welcoming. Peak cavern is well worth a visit. There are lots of walks from the door step. Or a short drive to magnificent sites.

We liked everything. The car park was only 2 minutes away.

Lovely house, perfect for Peak District visits.

Lovely house, clean and comfortable. Right in the center of Castleton, very convenient for village pub and shops and for hiking trails.

The Peak Cavern is very close, and hosts lots of rock concerts and other loud events in the summer which you can hear from the house even with the windows closed. As people leave from 10-11 pm they walk right in front of the house talking loudly. It was only a minor annoyance for us, but if you can't accept that kind of noise then check on the concert schedule.

Schattig huis midden in leuk toeristisch dorp

Locatie van het huisje is midden in het plaatsje Castleton en bijna naast de ingang van Peak cavern. Het huisje is lekker licht en ruim genoeg voor met z'n vieren. Eigenaar informeerde keurig of alles naar wens was en we altijd contact op konden nemen bij vragen ed.

De bedden zijn redelijk smal (140cm) voor 2p en er is geen (achter) tuin.
