Ridgway is the northern entrance of the scenic San Juan Skyway. An All-American Road which serves as a crossroad for commerce, transportation, history and scenery. The San Juan Skyway is one of the most spectacular roadways in the U.S. as it winds through unmatched scenery — it is a photographer’s dream.

Nestled in the picturesque Uncompahgre Valley and surrounded by majestic snow-capped peaks of the Cimarron and San Juan Mountains, Ridgway is the “Gateway to the San Juans.” The movies True Grit and How the West was Won were both shot in the area.

There are many activities for families to enjoy while they are in the area:

During the summer, spring, and fall months there is historic/scenic driving, walking, hiking, biking, river rafting, kayaking, fishing, ATV and 4x4 jeep touring, hot balloon adventures, horseback riding, hot springs soaking, rock climbing, tennis (in Ridgway Town Park), and golfing (The Divide Ranch and Club on Log Hill). In addition, there is camping, boating, fishing, and walking in Ridgway State Park. Visit the Mesa Verde National Park cliff dwellings. Or take in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison with its spectacular canyon views and cool Gunnison River waters just east of Montrose.

During the winter months, there is snow skiing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, ice climbing, sledding, and much more.

Additionally, Telluride offers festivals almost every weekend of the summer season and has world class skiing during the winter months. Telluride has four waterfalls, the highest concentration of 14,000-ft. peaks in North America, and the most high-altitude passes.

Colorful hiking includes fields of wildflowers that begin to bloom in June and peak in July. Experience yellows, reds, and burnt orange color in late September and early October. Or take in the snow and serenity of the Rockies during the winter.

**NO dogs or other animals, including service and therapy animals, are permitted on the property due to life-threatening animal dander allergies of the host.
**There is a RING camera located on the front porch. It is used to monitor the exterior of our home.

What a beautiful house and location. All the pictures are accurate, it really is that pretty. It's clean and a very nice house, much nicer than your average VRBO rental. The views from the living room and patio are postcard worthy. Very private but not isolated. 20m to Ridgway, 30m to Telluride, it's perfectly situated to be convenient but still private. If you're a birder, we saw/heard well over a dozen different birds every day. On our last day we witnessed the local ravens gang up on a pair of red-tailed hawks are drive them away. Later in the day, we saw a young elk grazing beside the hot tub side of the house. He later bedded down behind the house just in view from the shower window! You can walk up the street for views of the valley or walk up the county road, it goes on for miles through high meadows. The house is nicely furnished with high quality furniture, there's no Ikea/barely comfortable chairs or beds in the house. It's obvious this is a well loved, well cared for family home. We never turned on the tv. Every morning was spent on the porch and evenings ended win the hot tub. You will never find a better hot tub view than here. Communications were always quick but we really didn't need to, the house has everything you need and there is information provided for all aspects of your stay. We’re already ready to go back!

The home is well appointed and beautiful. It’s a short trip to everything and the most beautiful drive into Telluride. Liz had fantastic communication and we could have not been more pleased. The snow on the property felt like a greeting card photo. We hope to come back to enjoy some summer festivals as well. Highly recommend!
