Beautifully appointed. Thoughtful extras like second kettle upstairs. Spacious bedroom suite with lounge area. Good modern kitchen.
Perilous spiral wooden stair case of 3 flights to top floor. A struggle even for those without major mobility problems. I didn’t see any reference to this in the brochure details only a mention of stairs to access upper floors, which is normal. All of this apartment is upstairs.

The location and character of the old building was fantastic. Very quiet and provided all the facilities we required.
The three lifts of spiral / ship like stairs were hard work in terms of moving our luggage in, but once in they were generally ok provided you took your time and held onto the rails.

Merchants Rise is an apartment in an old Grade 1 listed building. It is quirky blending old with new, but spacious comfortable and clean and whilst we didn't cook while we were there it had all necessary equipment and appliances. It is in a great central location with just a short walk to all the restaurants, shops and boat trips. Having private parking in a separate garage nearby was a real benefit. Communication with the host on the day of arrival was good.
The only thing that might be a slight issue for others, but not a problem for us, were the narrow, steep, winding stairs - three flights from the entrance to the top bedroom, but is is an old building so understandable. There are handrails on each flight to assist with going up and down.

Fully equipped kitchen with nice touches, such as dishwasher tablets, etc.
Nicely furnished also.
Stairs are a little awkward, but no other issues
