From previous reviews the property seemed so good, but sadly the reality was very disappointing.

Location was quiet and easy walking to both Windermere and Bowness.

Kitchen was not cleaned. I had to empty and clean the kettle (covered in previous occupants finger marks). When I wiped the table prior to setting for the family evening meal, the cloth had a layer of brown dust/ dirt. The saucepans and other utensils had to be washed prior to use. I wasn’t impressed with the standard of cleanliness and found it wholly unacceptable that I had to clean so much on my holiday. I had booked the house for my husband’s 60th birthday treat. Other areas of the house clearly hadn’t been dusted. Cobwebs at the front door. BBQ was so dirty that we didn’t attempt to try to clean it. Outside of the house just looked neglected.

This was a disappointing property for the money

The property is spacious and in a quiet location

There was no WiFi for the entire stay, the agent is not easy to get in touch with (and only for office hours mon-fri). The kitchen is quite poorly equipped for 6 guests and there were no toiletries (other than a small bar of soap). Two of the three beds were uncomfortable.

Our family get together.

The location was perfect. The beds were so comfortable. The garden was large enough and secure for the dogs. Each bedroom had its own bathroom facilities. The house was roomy, light, and airy. Everywhere was clean. Great facilities for the dogs. We absolutely loved this house.

The position of the hot tub was not very inviting. The decor was a bit tired in places

Perfect location to explore Bowness and Windemere. Very quite area. The house was very clean and nicely furnished. My wife loved the wood and all the lights. The hot tub was nice to try. It had all the appliances we could want for our stay.

The sauna didn't work and one of the en-suites didn't extract the steam. But these were little distractions given how much we enjoyed our stay at the property.

Not worth £500 a night

Location, decor, hot tub and sauna

Couldn't connect 2 of the tv's to watch. Not enough cutlery - 4 forks for 6 people. Stated that toiletries would be provided - 1 small bar of soap in each bathroom. Wouldn't use the barbeque, rusty and dirty. Cleanliness overall ok. Dropped something down the side of one of the cushions on sofa. Looked like it hadn't been hoovered in a long time. Stains on mattress. Rooms hadn't been cleaned properly. In one bedroom lube gel found at the side of the bed! Oven door not cleaned.

It was OK

It’s a good location , close to the town but also on a private road for some peace and quiet.

Check in at 4pm and check out by 10am is annoying as most places are 3pm and 11am so you lose out on hours for the price you pay for this property. The house does look a lot larger in the photos and from the outside, but it was fine soace wise for us. It was a little dusty inside, some crumbs and fluff on the floor so I don’t think it was cleaned very well before our arrival. The outside patio table was super dirty. The garden was the main reason for choosing this place and it was ‘ok’ , it looked abit messy and unkempt which was disappointing, it should be maintained more often. It’s also on a slight slope and not enclosed so it didn’t feel safe to let the dog or my son roam the Garden without feeling anxious if my eyes weren’t on them all the time. Lots of stairs inside and outside so it’s not accessible for anyone with mobility challenges.

The property was beautiful. We arrived late at night and we were very pleasantly surprised. It was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated.

The property was beautiful but the only tiny thing that would maybe help would be a light above the property sign. It was quite difficult to locate in the dark but this is the only thing. It certainly did not put us off and we would love to rebook.

Great family holiday

The kitchen was fantastic and very up to date. The location was brilliant just far enough out of the village so it wasn't busy. The hot tub and sauna was a great added extra and easy to use with the instructions. The cottage was cosy and definitely warm enough. Lovely big back garden overlooking the woods. Massive TV to watch at night. Big drive to park a few cars out. It's all round fantastic place will definitely return.

There was nothing I didn't like. 1 thing that would have been better was for a key to the hottub door so you can get to the sauna without walking through the house.

The garden was a bit unkept, grassy area was way too long, rusty old wheelbarrow etc, didn’t like where the hot tub was, it was in the back of the garage in a small room, only a small window, so when you were sat in the hot tub, you were basically just looking at walls and there wasn’t a key in the door to the outside area so you basically had to go back upstairs all through the house which we felt was quite dangerous and then into the sauna which was situated outside by the kitchen.

Gorgeous house in a gorgeous location but disappointing features overall.

Beautiful place to stay, high end furniture and equipment, very comfy beds, excellent location, we were so lucky with the weather, 4 gorgeous sunny days! Fabulous location to celebrate Dad’s 80th birthday with lots to do and see, would highly recommend the food at the Magic Roundabout restaurant in Bowness and a lake cruise.

No mirrors in either of the upstairs bedrooms which made drying hair and grooming quite difficult. Missing wardrobe doors in the larger of the upstairs bedroom. Very steep steps to the house itself from the car park. More steep (rather dangerous) steps into the garden at the rear (not toddler safe). More steep stairs down and a walk past an untidy storage area to reach the hot tub, which limited the time we could use that facility. Only the TV in the lounge has terrestrial channels, meaning we could not use the large tv in the snug and each one in bedrooms which was disappointing. Due to these issues we would have to say the 3 night stay was not value for money at £270 per night.

Woodlands Family Retreat

We had a very comfortable stay. The property was very clean ,& had plenty of space for 6 adults & a baby but equally cosy. We enjoyed the novel wood decor. The location of the house was perfect. Very peaceful ,no traffic to disturb sleep, but near enough to walk to both Windermere & Bowness.

Most of the facilities were very good....however it would have been great to have a tea pot and a hair drier.

We enjoyed our time as we go to the Lakes each year . Property was nice but in my opinion overpriced

The property was nicley decorated and modern and in a quiet location. It was within easy walking distance to Windermere and Bowness.

No blinds on kitchen area even though there is a neighbour next door. No blinds on lounge so not cosy when watching TV. No blind on window to hot tub so not very private. Garden was messy could have done with the fence fixed and grass cut. At night the area is pitch black and there are some steps down to garden area from the patio. There is only one light so it was very dark when we let our dog outside and my husband fell on the steps. You have to go through a very messy garage area to hot tub . No hairdryer or first aid kit so not as well equipt as others places we have stayed. No batteries in clocks or some of the remotes. As far as the cleaning was concerned the towels and toilet paper were not replenished during the stay. I was originally advised that it was £5 per night for our pet then on the day it said £10 per night so I had already put the £20 in the honesty box and didnt feel that I should have pay any more. So all in all not worth the money we paid.

Kitchen was well equipped. Sauna & hot tub was great. Location was good. House was clean & comfy.

1) no toiletries in the bathroom and no mention that this is not provided! 2) the main door was quite difficult to lock / open, took us a while to figure it out. 3) since weather is quite unpredictable, a couple of umbrellas at the property will be a nice gesture (we got soaked on day 1). 4) no dustbins for disposal of bottles
