Woodlands Family Retreat Windermere with Hot Tub and Sauna - Ridgestone

Modern property with lots of facilities and space. The area was very peaceful and relaxing. The back garden backed onto a wooded area and we regularly saw a deer grazing right by the picket fence. The property is approx a ten minute walk to Windermere, which has plenty of facilities.

The property could have benefited from door hooks and extra mirrors in the bedrooms and bathrooms and a proper shower over the bath. The mirror in the upper en-suite was impossible to use - my wife is 5’3” and even she had to crouch to see in it. Property states there are two large double beds. We took this literally but in fact all the beds were doubles, just two of the rooms were larger. There were no blinds at the windows in communal rooms. It would have benefited from some board games and cards. The garage roof/gutter is dangerous when ascending/descending steps and could benefit from some signage.

The location was perfect. The beds were so comfortable. The garden was large enough and secure for the dogs. Each bedroom had its own bathroom facilities. The house was roomy, light, and airy. Everywhere was clean. Great facilities for the dogs. We absolutely loved this house.

The position of the hot tub was not very inviting. The decor was a bit tired in places

Location was quiet and easy walking to both Windermere and Bowness.

Kitchen was not cleaned. I had to empty and clean the kettle (covered in previous occupants finger marks). When I wiped the table prior to setting for the family evening meal, the cloth had a layer of brown dust/ dirt. The saucepans and other utensils had to be washed prior to use. I wasn’t impressed with the standard of cleanliness and found it wholly unacceptable that I had to clean so much on my holiday. I had booked the house for my husband’s 60th birthday treat. Other areas of the house clearly hadn’t been dusted. Cobwebs at the front door. BBQ was so dirty that we didn’t attempt to try to clean it. Outside of the house just looked neglected.
