Hostel 東風ノ家（Kochi-no-ya）

We had a wonderful stay at this hostel. We loved the way they’ve created a number of common space areas in various parts of this traditional Japanese house. Their attention to detail in decor is fabulous. The common areas allowed us to meet other people walking the Shikoku 88 (one from Japan and another from Germany), as well as a German couple who were vacationing in Japan. While we have enjoyed the minshuku vibe along the pilgrimage route it’s always nice to meet other travelers. The common areas also include a fridge, a microwave oven and a toaster for those who want to bring in some konbini take away. As for meals, there are a number of really well rated restaurants within easy walking distance (like less than 10 minutes), and a Family Mart just a five minute walk away. Our room was cozy with really comfortable futon pads, high thread count sheets and super comfy duvets. We left the windows open all night and enjoyed the cool autumn air. For most of the night traffic noise was not an issue. Azumi was very responsive and helpful, even offering to book a table for us at a recommended restaurant nearby. We found out that Aki has some cool stuff to explore so we’d book a two night stay next time.

By around 7:00 a.m. traffic was picking up a bit so if you’re looking to sleep in you might want to use the provided earplugs.

Well organised inn right on the Henro route. Good kitchen space and full bathroom.

We are early risers as it is important to get a very early start walking. The noise/time restrictions in the common space was a problem. I don't think this was a problem to most of the guests though

意外的住進一間百年日式老宅，房屋裡的一磚一瓦、一草一木都帶著濃濃的懷舊復古風，環境也非常的乾淨、優雅，晚上或許會有房客在公共區域裡聊天，因為隔間不是很好，所以聲音難免會比較大，但是過了晚上大概9點左右就會恢復安靜了，好像有規定公共區域只能待到幾點(忘了)。沒有提供早晚餐，但可以使用他們的廚房去處理自己帶去的餐食，整體來說我很喜歡這麼美的日式老屋!!
