COSMOS Iya Valley

The most well-equipped kitchen I've ever had in a holiday home, we were able to make all of our meals with no trouble! The location is absolutely beautiful, the back garden is straight out of a Ghibli film and we spent many hours relaxing and admiring the view. The host was brilliant at managing the property from off-sight, and letting you have space. On day two we came home to a basket of fresh towels and bathmats just inside the front door, and it was clear they hadn't gone any further inside. It is a share-house but we were lucky that nobody booked the other room so we were alone the whole time. It is an easy 15min walk from Oboke station and there is even a bus stop very close by.

The beds were a little bit on the hard side, but we still slept comfortably. Lots of bugs (of course it is the countryside) but bug spray is provided in a lot of the rooms so you can grab it fast if needed.

Everything worked but the bathroom/kitchen are outdated. Traces of mould in wet locations.

location was great, kitchen was very useful to have, beds were comfortable

i didn’t meet any of the staff so i couldn’t rate that properly. also there’s no lock to the house or the room - we were the only people there but something to keep in mind if there are other guests.

Ryu was very accomodating and picked us up from the train station. He gave us a great introduction to our room and facilities.

Being a tea growing area it would have been great to have fresh local green tea to make a pot of tea. I felt the place smelt mouldy. Now this may be that it is so wet in the Iya valley. I have nothing else to compare it with.
