A delightful stay; I like Dutch attic apartments, and Torenkamer is one of the best.

This is one of the best apartments I have stayed in (and I've stayed in many). It is very spacious; photographs for some properties can be misleading, but in Torenkamer's case, the size and layout of the property are even better than the photographs portray. It is well furnished and has a very good range of kitchen equipment. There is a good standard of cleanliness throughout. The bed is reasonably comfortable (at least it suited me). The heating system was good enough for a cold November, and the controls on each radiator allow the heating to be easily adjusted when needed, and different room temperatures can be set (such as a warm sitting room in the evening, and a cooler bedroom for a comfortable night's sleep). There is fixed secondary glazing on the bedroom and lounge windows, so these windows cannot be opened, but there are smaller windows in the hall, and a modern window in the lounge, which can all be opened for ventilation. The price is a little high for a solo traveller compared to other Dutch apartments I've stayed in, but Torenkamer is value for money given its spaciousness, comfort, and charm. The hosts make one feel very welcome and are very quick and polite in responding to any queries. The fromagerie on the ground floor of the building is too tempting by half, if you like cheese; the range of European cheeses is excellent and the staff are friendly. I suspect that the street-life might get noisy on summer evenings but the bedroom is at the back of the building and relatively quiet. Attic apartments are always noisy when there is heavy rain or strong winds, so I always carry earplugs. I needed them here for one night (a thunderstorm) but otherwise slept well without them. The WiFi was stable enough for me to take part in an online conference. I chose Torenkamer for this trip, as I was spending a little more than usual on accommodation, to treat myself, in celebration of completing a successful work project. It was the perfect choice.

The steep, curved staircase is a little awkward, when carrying a suitcase, but one is warned about this on the website. It wasn't a major issue for me, in my sixties, with one dodgy knee. These staircases go with the territory - that's what historic Dutch attic apartments are like. There are accessible modern alternatives in Middelburg, but they won't have the charm of Torenkamer.

Een sprookje; wij voelden ons koninklijk behandeld in de Torenkamer!

Wat een sprookje! Geweldige locatie aan de dam en alles was super goed verzorgd. Zalige kaas geproefd van de ondergelegen kaaswinkel en het bed is super comfortabel.

Alles was top, ik had wel oordoppen mee want je hoort de kerkklok soms in de nacht maar voor ons gaf dat ook wel weer sfeer. Niet zo geschikt voor mensen die slecht ter been zijn ivm hoogte vd kamer, ook hier hadden wij zelf geen last van.

Prima verblijf op een fijne locatie

De locatie, de sfeer van de kamers en het uitzicht vanuit de slaapkamer op de "lange Jan".

De "verbloemde" leuning bij de wenteltrap. Door de bloemen gaf deze weinig houvast terwijl dat bij de gladde treden van deze trap juist wel handig kan zijn. Verder lagen de sleutels niet op de aangegeven plaats (in kluisje), daar moesten we na aankomst helaas zelf nog achteraan.

Fantastisch! We komen zeker terug!

Locatie top, midden in het centrum van Middelburg. Heel attent lag er heerlijke kaas en frisdrank in de koelkast, eitjes voor het ontbijt, koffie, thee etc. Ook waren er extra flessen wijn die je voor een normale prijs kon gebruiken. Het bed lag heerlijk, echt een heel fijn appartement!

Geweldig appartement midden in het centrum met prachtig uitzicht

Wat een geweldig appartement midden in het centrum van Middelburg. Het appartement is heel smaakvol en sfeervol ingericht en ruim. Het uitzicht op de Dam is heel mooi zeker in de ‘schommel’ stoel voor het raam. Daar wil je niet meer uit. De slaapkamer is aan de rustige achterkant van het huis. De keuken is goed uitgerust en er stond wat te drinken en een kaasplankje voor ons klaar. Beneden heeft de eigenaresse een kaas en delicatessenwinkel waar je ook kan ontbijten of lunchen. Echt een aanrader en een hele aardige eigenaresse. Waarschuwing het appartement is bereikbaar via een trap deels zonder leuning en een wenteltrap dus niet geschikt voor mensen die slecht ter been zijn.

Wat een heerlijke plek. Je wandelt door de oude stad en bekijkt de prachtige panden en dan blijk je ook in zo’n prachtig pand te overnachten! Je zit midden in het centrum en kijkt uit op het Damplein aan de ene kant en op de lange Jan aan de andere kant. Comfortabel en mooi appartement.

Schoon en fijn verblijf in de torenkamer

De kamer was schoon en sfeervol ingericht. De keuken was van alle gemakken voorzien, en de schommelstoel was een leuke extra. Er waren voldoende handdoeken beschikbaar gedurende het verblijf en meer dan genoeg dekens om lekker op de bank te kruipen. De oplettende nerd zal ook wat anders opmerken, iets wat de stilte doet breken..
