Excellent price-quality ratio for a stay in Brussels

Really enjoyed my stay at Smart Appart - City. The location is literally at a metro station entrance, and a walking distance to Brussels city center. The room was spacious, with a large bed. I also appreciated having a table with chairs, really a saver if you need to do anything on the laptop. Having more sockets at that area would have been appreciated, but then I found bedroom lamps had 3-way socket adapter and just used that.

I understand it might be something outside of the property owner control, but the spiral stairs leading to the room were pretty narrow. Definitely wasn't a problem as I was traveling just with a backpack, but something to check with them (as they have different floor apartments) for people with disabilities or traveling with lots of luggage.

The studio is located next to a metro station and within walking distance from office buildings and central part. The code entrance system worked easily.

The flat was left with two windows open in December so it was awfully cold and took a lot of time to warm up in the evening. There was not notice that the studio was on an upper floor with tiny steep staircase which made lifting huge luggage not only uncomfortable but also not safe. The wifi did not work for three consecutive days. The bathroom needs a good scrub.

The worst nightmare apartment with molds, drugged, drunk people at its door

This place is a worst nightmare! Don’t ever make a mistake to book it. You read reviews but apparently those are fakes because no one is telling you that this the location of drugged, drunk people & prostitutes. When we arrived at the apartment with 4 small children that there were drugged people at our door and didn’t let us in! Then police came and arrested people! We finally managed to got out of the apartment with the children safely & called booking.com & the owner 20 times to help us! They didn’t help, the owner didn’t respond and we were on the street the night of the 14th with 4 children!!!!! On the morning of 15th a rubber rubbed our car and broken our window when we just wanted to walk a little and find sth to eat!! Police came to take reports & we never went back to it. Don’t mention all the molds on the wall of the bathroom! Booking.com after hours of phone calls didn’t even care to find a solution. They didn’t find us a safe place or they didn’t refund us to book somewhere else & the owner, a total fraud! He sent me emails but he didn’t respond any of the emails of calls from booking.com. We paid 517,14€ for this dangerous accommodation plus our car window and plus all the expenses to book somewhere else! Booking.com should take responsibility for these horrible accommodations instead they are sitting and watching until someone killed! Less than 24h police came twice! That’s a hell of a remark. Goodjob!

There was nothing to like, the location was very close to what looked like a red light District, dirty street. The apartment smelt very stale. Windows in the basement open to the noisy street. I had two small babies with me and my elderly parents. It was embarrassing. Had to call a taxi to take us to the nearest Ibis. Ended up not staying here at all.

I had high hopes for this hotel based on the location and amenities, but unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing due to the surrounding environment. Throughout our stay, there were individuals—many of whom appeared to be sex workers—consistently gathered and smoking right outside the entrance. What made things worse was the noise at night—people yelling and arguing well into the early hours made it difficult to sleep. The area didn’t feel safe, especially when returning late; we were approached multiple times by individuals soliciting services, which was very uncomfortable and concerning. The hotel itself was decent, but the external environment significantly affected the overall sense of safety and comfort. I would not recommend this place for families or solo travelers, especially those unfamiliar with the area. A bit more security presence or management attention to the immediate surroundings would go a long way in improving the guest experience. Also the staircase constantly smelled like mold and cigarettes

Not worth the money

Apartment was clean I got clear check-in/out instructions

Apparently, this apartment located at some kind of ‘Red Light district’. There was group of ladies sitting at the stairs to the building few evenings in the raw. I saw another group of women in front of the house. They didn’t look like friends who are just hanging out. Few meters further is this ‘Open Room’ building which looks like brothel. I felt very unsafe walking this street, and especially passing these groups of ladies. One time they didn’t want to let me in the building. They were sitting at the stairs. When I asked ‘May I get in please?’. They said ‘Yes, you can’ without moving… But when I repeated my question, one lady stood up, so I had to climb through other ladies. This apartment is very old with thin doors and windows. I could hear every single sound from neighbours and especially from the street. Ladies screaming, men shouting, glass breaking, police sirens etc. Like living in ghetto. Watch out for the window in bathroom. It’s half transparent. At first I thought it’s ok. But one evening when I was preparing for the shower I noticed that group of guys standing on the balcony in front and watching me. So, I had to cover the window with my bath towel for the rest of my stay. I couldn’t wait to leave!

Basic, clean accommodation but no frills and needs some improvement.

Studio apartment had the basic necessities and kitchenette had most things. It was clean and main bed was comfortable. Location was fairly good too. Instructions were simple and all entry was pin coded so no need for keys. Bath towels were clean and basic body and hand-wash was provided. Had a television with Netflix availability for some wind down viewing.

Bathroom door was damaged, lock had tissue stuffed into it to block the key hole which was in front of the toilet as a very crude stop gap. Bedside table lamp was broken but bulb was fortunately working. Windows did not offer any sound proofing so apartment was quite noisy until after midnight. Sofa bed was very uncomfortable. No handtowel provided.

Never again

I found all the check in procedure very cumbersome, as well as all the procedure to open the door of the apartment. The apartment is anonymous and unwelcoming. Any touch of attention towards the guest is missing. Even what I assumed to be basic for a hosting property was missing: we found only two towels for two persons. I asked through the app (the only possible way to talk with someone of the host property) why we did not find the normal set of three towels per person, typical of any hosting facility, and I did not receive any answer. The overall communication with the host was very difficult and answers were always delayed or completely missing. I expected, beside the long list of duties to be accomplished by the guests, at least some more attention for the guests/customers. I would not recommend this apartment to other guests, taking into account also the area where the apartment is located, with prostitutes and drugs sellers at any corner of the streets.

Good location

Location was very good: walking distance to all major sights downtown. Easy commute to the Atomium as well. Very comfortable beds, good kitchen with all essentials, two bathrooms both with shower. Easy check in and check out. 10 min walk to the Brussel-Noord train station.

The basement room and kitchen lacked proper ventilation, and the room window (below street level) had a view to the gutter and garbage disposal. The main WC didn't have an extractor either, but we solved it with air freshener.

Well appointed and modern in a fantastic location.

Digital access was flawless. Communications related to access was received well in advance of check in which minimised any anxiety associated with getting access on the day, particularly as we arrived in the dark. Very close to metro station and small supermarket. Really enjoyed our visit to Brussels and the accommodation contributed to this greatly.

The hot water heater temperature is set very high. Be careful of the hot side of the mixer manifold in the shower!

I would not recommend it for a stay greater than 2-3 nights

-Very close to a supermarket and metro line -Close to brussels central -well equipped kitchen with a large refrigerator, microwave and oven. -Bathroom was clean -Windows can be opened to let fresh air in -Heating system was good

•The sofabed was broken and the mattress of the main bed was super uncomfy •Cramped for 3 people with luggage. •Electric chimney above the hot cooking plate is broken and makes a huge noise (Studio-1) •It feels like people are walking on our heads due to the thin wooden flooring/ceiling •No washing machine, so no way of doing laundry and they charge 45€ for fresh towels and 50€ for a clean •Screaming siren noises the whole night, noisey drunk people on the street •No Lift so it was difficult to carry our luggage upstairs •No cleaning supplies, not even a sweeping mop. Very difficult to stay for more than 3 nights because one would need fresh towels, cleaning supplies and a good night’s sleep.

The apartment was very clean and comfortable. It is situated in the heart of the city with the metro station right outside. Great for family.

It is fairly noisy so keep that in mind when travelling with kids. Parking is hard to find.

It was ok, but the first night being locked out put a dampener on our stay.

The access code was incorrect & did not work & we got locked out at 1am. We had to contact the police as no response/ help from host. The police also could not contact them. Took 2 hours for the police to get us into the apartment as we needed medication for my sisters diabetes. She fell sick throughout this process. Only for my sisters health problems we wouldn’t have gained access at all. The host contacted me at 8.52pm the next day. It is a drug area so a lot of sirens throughout the night, people in public shooting up drugs on the street.

Very poor

I liked everything else beside this appartment's area.

Its a very bad area to stay for your holliday, the appartment is located on a small street full of hookers and drugs dealers roaming on that area, you dont feel safe at all. Every time i came back from the city i found hookers drinking and smoking on the stairs of the building. Very noisy during the night and especially very early in the mornig, people there are calling eachother loud voice announcing if the police is coming! I booked for 3 nights and besides the room is way too much over rated on booking (you get only 2 towells during your stay, walls are bloody from insects, the sunscreen broken and dirty with blood, no AC, got the studio no 3-last floor- the stairs are very tiny, so watch out!) on the 3rd night my car got back window broken and stolen everything inside!

The apartment had everything that was needed, was clean and the bed was comfy.

There were a group of sex workers outside the apartment who were reluctant to move when they were sat on the step of the entrance of the apartment, so maybe not suitable for those with children.

Location was good. Just beside the metro station and walking distance to the Grand place. Apartment was moderately decorated and clean. Kitchen area was good.

Stairs were too steep and narrow. Hard to climb with baggage. Apartment is not like what shown in the picture. Bath area was too small, a healthy person cannot go inside. Could not connect the smart TV and did not get any reply from the host after communicating with them regarding the same.

Was expecting much better. All a bit minimal and basic but served the purpose of providing a base to explore the city.

The photos showed no relationship to the very basic minimally furnished and basically equipped accommodation provided to us. You need to be streetwise within the surrounding potentially challenging neighbourhood. No personal touch by or with owner- all communication/information routine and only via messaging.

A good stay in Brussels for a short visit

The property was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Walking distance from the centre and easy access to the metro. Nice having a shop very close too

The location was a little bit dodgy at night but everyone we came across was very nice. I would suggest shutting the windows after 11 otherwise it can be very noisy and loud until around 2am.
