Fabulous stay in the countryside, tranquility and home comforts, with open fire making it perfect.

The tranquility of the location within easy reach of a local town by car. The accommodation was well maintained, extremely comfortable and provided all amenities for our stay. The perfect addition for me was an open fire, which we used on two of our three nights at the property.

A warm, cosy cottage set amongst the countryside but within easy access of all the local attractions

A warm and cosy cottage set amongst the countryside but within easy access of all the lovely local attractions. There was a generous welcome pack and lots of local information. Gwen was available for any questions. We enjoyed waking up to see the birds flitting and feeding in the bushes before heading off to see even more birds at RSPB Arne. We made use of the helpful walking guides provided to climb up the cliffs to get spectacular views of Old Harry Rocks, Sandbanks, Brownsea Island and Studland. The cottage has everything you need to cook and relax at the end of an adventurous day out. And a lovely hot shower!

Lovely, well equipped, peaceful cottage in a good location,with friendly, helpful owners.

Quiet location, 15 minutes from Wareham. Peaceful,well equipped, home from home,near to coast,Swanage railway, Lulworth Cove and Kimmeridge.

Larger bathroom,or an ensuite as well as the main bathroom. Bit of a queue for x5 people to use the 1 bathroom.

Beautiful and tranquil

Gorgeous place in the woods. Gwen is a lovely host and she made sure we had an amazing stay. We thouroughly enjoyed the welcome goodies and loved the cosy and homely living area. My elderly parents and my 2 yr old son too felt just like home and that is all I wanted. Already recommended to friends and we will be definitely visiting again.

A wonderful tranquil stay in beautiful surroundings.

The cottage at Woodlands, Dormer is a real gem in the heart of Dorset. We had a wonderful stay and particularly appreciated the proximity to the coastal walks. Our hosts were so attentive and very knowledgeable about the local area. Thank you for the welcome tray particularly the fresh eggs and delicious apple cake which we enjoyed as part of our picnic. Cottages at Woodlands deserve their high rating.

Peaceful cottage set in woodland

Such a peaceful location! The place was warm and very well equipped. Gwen and Martin had been kind enough to provide extra unexpected treats (wine, fresh eggs, cake!!) We took a short walk from the cottage down to the stream and saw deer and heard a variety of birds. It was delightful. Wareham is picturesque as well and not too far to drive to.

It would be churlish to say anything about the furnishings as they are in keeping with the cottage.

Brilliant: hosts, cottage, setting, area, birding all brilliant.

The location was ideal for us: easy to reach Wareham, for its shops, Italian Deli, The Chippery, Museum and the Anglo Saxon walls (what a wonderful little town); the nature reserve at Arne, a jewel in the RSPB's crown; Corfe Castle; Swanage and the magnificent walks along the coastal path in Durlston Country park (good cafe too); and Poole harbour, with the brilliant Poole Harbour Bird Cruises, exploring the western, wild, end of the Harbour, with its Ospreys, Bearded Tits, Black-tailed Godwits, etc, and - even if it was a distant speck on this occasion - a White-tailed Eagle. Within easy walking distance are the River Piddle and Lower Hyde Heath: as birdwatchers, having such interesting habitats so close by was fantastic. We didn't have time to explore everywhere, so will just have to return to Woodlands and do more walks! Gwen and Martin were helpful, caring, affable and interesting hosts, who have restored a very old farm and its outbuildings very sensitively, making for a lovely, comfortable place to stay, with outdoor space, easy parking and a full range of facilities. The shower was especially good! - and so was listening to Cuckoos very close by, watching a Spotted Flycatcher hunting whilst we ate our breakfast; and the promise of a Barn Owl over the neighbouring field...next time...

Amazingly spacious, peaceful cottage in fantastic location

The property was beautifully spacious, plenty of room for us all, and in a great location. It felt lovely and remote and peaceful but was really close to some great days out (good for us travelling with a 10 year old and a toddler). The host was so friendly and helpful, and there were lots of beautiful touches that really made the stay great - tea, wine and cake were left for us, and there were nice toiletries provided too. Would definitely recommend!!

We loved absolutely everything, but the only thing that would have been very helpful with a 2 year old would be stair gates - but I know that wouldn’t suit everyone!

Fabulous quiet location in woodland backdrop; easy access to many interesting spots in Dorset; hosts on hand & very eager to help/advise if asked; thoughtful 'goodies/welcome' tray; downstairs toilet; parking for 2 cars; definitely home from home. Host quick to alert us of items left behind and organise return.

Didn't dislike anything - but would have appreciated some instructions on heating controls, a sieve that rice didn't fall through, some bleach and an aerosol for toilets (minor things in the grand scheme).

Lovely down time

Very well equipped. Very quiet at night. Little touches like spice rack made it feel more homely. Very comfy bed. We saw a stag (animal, not drunken ramble) outside the cottage on the first night. Hosts were very accomodating and understanding when we arrived early. Will be back X

A lovely rural location, a comfortable cottage and close to some beautiful sites for all ages

It is a beautiful cottage in a rural setting. We loved the quiet, the squirrels and other wildlife around the property. Gwen was very welcoming and flexible with our complicated travel plans. She answered emails very quickly and with full responses. The kitchen is well equipped and the whole place was comfortable and homely. I would have been happy to stay longer.
