Staff were excellent, had an issue with heating, and contacted the property manager. The plumber was there in 20mins. fixed issue. Great service.

Great place for a tranquil break.

Ronseal - did exactly as it said it would. Lovely location, close to Peebles with tranquil, slow-paced seclusion. The property had everything one could have wished for. We especially appreciated the ‘Welcone!’ pack of groceries that saw us through our initial stay. Lovely safe areas of woodland on the doorstep to walk our dog. Really nice place to come for a relaxing visit.

The driveway is a graded earth drive which, after the unusually persistent rainfalls had quite a few potholes. Nothing else at all to mention.

A lovely farming area of Peebles. The stables cottage was so comfortable and beautifully furnished.

Excellent breakfast was left at the cottage. So nice to meet Lou Lou at the cottage who was kind enough to show us through Neidpath Castle another beautiful accommodation suite overlooking the beautiful river Tweed with many walking paths . From the cottage you can do many day trips around this amazing part of Scotland.

A cosy and very memorable stay in a gorgeous property! Would definitely stay again!

Location was brilliant, the staff were very helpful and easy to get a hold of if we needed anything, the breakfast hamper was a very lovely touch and very much appreciated! Gorgeous property and grounds!

The code for the lock box wasn’t given to us and it wasn’t until later I noticed it said in the emails in small writing that we had to email our details to receive it - this should be given in the welcome email before arrival. The mattress was a bit hard (but that’s just our preference). It would have been helpful to note somewhere on the fire instructions about which button to press to allow the smoke to escape as it came billowing out of the fire and we had to phone and ask which button was the correct one. Some areas in the property could do with a little touch up of paint - but overall an amazing stay in an amazing property!

Cosy cottage in beautiful quiet surroundings

We booked the Barns Bothy Cottage for 7 days. The cottage was very cosy and furnished to a high standard. The kitchen, sleeping area (under the roof), living area and also the bathroom were just ideal. Thank you very much for the nice welcome goodies. The key safe also worked very well. The area is very quiet and beautiful. We were able to park our car in a driveway right in front of the house. From the house you can walk a beautiful path to Peebles. In any case, Peebles is a very nice little place where you can spend some time and also get everything you need. From Peebles we took the bus to Edinburgh. That was no problem. Other excursion destinations were also easy to reach from our cottage. We would particularly recommend Traquair House. All in all, we had a wonderful vacation in Barns Bothy and have nothing to complain about. We would definitely come back.

We loved our stay at Barns bothy! Beautiful location and the property itself was lovely and well equipped for a 2 person stay. The breakfast items provided was a nice touch and communication prior to the stay was excellent.

Perfect pad for couple with dog

Amazing setting, wonderful place, friendly owner, great walks, beautiful building. The porch was awesome to contain our dog whilst she relaxed following a superb walk. The fire was so cozy, the bath was amazing and the facilities were perfect. Will be back as soon as we are able.

Hard to find an exact property as they are all look pretty the same so we had to ask for help from locals. I belive that bed is only double,larger would be ideal but it would be hard to get around.

Lovely little place, well set out. Lots of nice little extras. Owners very welcoming and charming. Absolutely stunning grounds and countryside, very peaceful. Village of Peebles is lovely, only 10 minute drive away. Would definitely recommend visiting Barns Bothy.

comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings, loook forward to going back

it’s position and it was tastefully decorated, with quality linen and towels. the welcome goodies like biscuits, milk, bread and eggs was a lovely touch.

there was a smell of kerosene from the boiler in the vestibule which cleared when the front door was left open for a little while. other than that it was perfect for what we needed.

Bothy Barns is a fabulous property that provided a great weekend away for us and our dog. All that we needed was there. We were exceptionally comfortable, great bed and bedding, with welcome essentials :) Being in the property felt very private. Location was great for where we wanted to visit. The instruction on how to get to and access the property was very helpful.

Genuinely cannot think of anything to improve. Having read the reviews others had left before we visited, the owners have taken feedback on board.

Disappointed

Cottage was lovely in a scenic position. Plenty of walks nearby.

Cold water very brown, only usable for washing. Wood burner belched smoke when first lit meaning we had to open door and windows for an hour to get rid of the acrid smell. No companion tools for use with fire making it difficult and dangerous to tend. No instructions for any facilities in the property. The cottage backs on to a courtyard where businesses are run and vehicles parked making it noisy last thing at night and early in the morning. Dogs are kept in large pens in the garden of the next door cottage and they were quite vocal in the mornings. Owner didn't manage to visit unfortunately.

Peace and quiet, lovely walks by the river, quaint cottage, renovated to a high standard.

Slightly worried initially about dogs barking next door but they were fine when I got used to it. Keeper was very good at shushing them.

The location was amazing, especially things like the arboretum The scenery was stunning. The little extras on arrival were a nice surprise. The accommodation was everything we needed and clean.

The shower was not as powerful as it looked but that's us being really, really, picky and being used to a power shower.

Really lovely stay at barns bothy - a beautiful cottage in a peaceful location. Lulu was lovely and the selection of treats left on arrival was an unexpected surprise!

Would have been helpful to have instruction manuals for things like the fire. Also could do with a comfier sofa.
