Barns Bothy

Location was ideal for us. It was lovely and quiet. Presented beautifully. Very clean with plenty of cleaning products available for the appliances. Lovely food basket with the basics provided and some treats. Bed was super comfortable. Shower was amazing. Communication was very good especially on the day when we arrived much later than we expected.

Would have been handy to have a map of the immediate area before arriving (similar to the one that is in the info folder on the coffee table). We arrived in the dark, we didn't know where the tower was, which was a landmark we'd been told to look out for, and the sign for the Bothy parking needs to be higher up.

Nice cosy cottage in lovely surroundings. Nice to have a starter pack on arrival. Quiet and relaxing.

The stairs to the bedroom was not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. This is not highlighted in the description on the booking.com site The chair and settee again were too low. The bath was difficult to get in and out of to have a shower and was quite slippy. Again these were due to mobility and age.

The furnishings in the sitting area were not up to the standard of the rest of the property. The lighting in the sitting room was poor for reading.

Cottage was lovely in a scenic position. Plenty of walks nearby.

Cold water very brown, only usable for washing. Wood burner belched smoke when first lit meaning we had to open door and windows for an hour to get rid of the acrid smell. No companion tools for use with fire making it difficult and dangerous to tend. No instructions for any facilities in the property. The cottage backs on to a courtyard where businesses are run and vehicles parked making it noisy last thing at night and early in the morning. Dogs are kept in large pens in the garden of the next door cottage and they were quite vocal in the mornings. Owner didn't manage to visit unfortunately.
