Good originality and a nice (but remote) location. No intrusive TV or electronic games. Peter, the Landlord is a very personable bloke who makes a good breakfast and (the one) real ale was excellent. Room was comfortable & clean.
This pub is really quite remote. So it’s a long walk to Appleby on unit roads with no footpath and off season has no food available which means a drive to eat. Incredibly quiet so no real fire and for most of the evening Peter was our only companion. This is however no reflection on the Landlord, purely a seasonal lack of custom. Would suit a larger group at this time of year but I can imagine would be different again in peak season.

Beautiful room with lounge area. Oldy worldly atmosphere welcoming atmosphere and fabulous breakfast
No chef so had to go elsewhere for dinner very disappointed
