Comfy stay in a fabulous location

Fabulous location, just on the edge of town with easy access to all amenities. We had a warm welcome and the rooms were very clean and well equipped with large windows and lovely views. Beds are comfortable. Compared to others in the area, Ferndale is great value. Really enjoyed our stay thanks.

Just some small details. Not sure if we missed them but better instructions for the car parking would be really helpful. We had 2 rooms, a double and single. The single we had is quite a compact room but perfectly adequate if you're just looking for a base. Some decaf options in the room would be lovely.

Perfect location lovely view, room 6. Nice lady who welcomed us, plates and cutlery available to use in the room. Very clean and very comfortable bed.

Its end of season and they did say it was having a bit of a makeover, cracked bathroom floor tiles, walls marked and a bit damp but it is a 200 year old building

Well-presented rooms that offers a comfortable stay.

The room was clean and well presented and there were tea/coffee facilities within the room.

I was expecting breakfast to have been included in the price yet it was no, so I felt that the price paid for the room was a bit overpriced which reflects my opinion and also the car park at the back of the hotel is tight for spaces to park various vehicles.

We had an outside room to ourselves . It was really quiet

What I felt was . The room we were in which usually takes visitors with dogs , we could get this strong smell from the room air freshener which was really very strong and nauseating . We located it and put it in the porch . If you need to use air freshener it would be nice to have something more soft and fresh . The property was great , no complaints

Would stay again

It was in a fantastic location, with parking on site, clean bright rooms and plenty of tea and coffee, free to help yourself when you needed extra. The lady who checked us in was very friendly and welcoming ( sorry can’t remember your name!)

There was no shower gel provided and the bed was not very comfortable ( but I’m used to a memory foam mattress)

Happy with our stay 😁

Host let us in early and was very through with everything we needed to know about our stay. Room was lovely very clean and a great size. The bed is super comfy and the shower was a dream didnt want to get out of it 😁 the location to the town centre is a 2 minute walk. We would definitely be returning and definitely recommend this accommodation very good value for the money spent 😁

Wonderful little guest house

Perfect location. Clean and comfortable room - nice calm decor, all clean, bright and airy room with lovely windows. Nice views from the room too of the fells! Host so helpful and friendly, advice on restaurants. Free parking outside the door. Even if it is full the owner gave us change for the pay for carpark which is also on the doorstop.

Excellent location with parking which is a premium in Ambleside. Breakfast not provided but nearby cafe open from 8 am with a great offer for breakfast. Rob was extremely flexible, helpful and easy to communicate with. Fabulous shower in the room.

The room was tiny & only room for 1 chair - and no communal sitting room - so there was nowhere to relax during the day, other than on the (small) bed. Not great value at £85 per night in early October, with few facilities. Had to park offsite.

I enjoyed a two night stay for a very reasonable price for what it provided.

Excellent position, with only a short walk to town centre. Stone-built, Victorian building. Private, free car parking. Friendly reception on arrival. Nice view from rear facing rooms.

Excellent option for a short stay in Ambleside

Rob was really friendly and welcoming upon arrival. The room was comfortable and clean and the property is well located for central Ambleside and the bus station. Property is also reasonably priced compared to comparable options in Ambleside.

August in Ambleside

All the stars! We recently spent a week at Ferndale Lodge, and we were immediately impressed by the warm welcome from Rob and the spotlessly clean room. Rob also provided us with a fridge for the room which was a fantastic bonus. He made recommendations for trips and restaurants which we followed up and enjoyed. The location is a perfect base to enjoy Ambleside and the weather was excellent too (not sure if Rob was responsible for that!). Anna and Rudi

It was a pleasant experience

It’s clean, easy to find and got a private parking space. It’s very central and Rob was very respondent to my queries (make sure you message him on booking.com for guidance on the parking and check in).

As our room was facing the main road, it can be very noisy but it wasn’t too bad at night. It can be very hot it would helpful to have a little fan. Also, make sure you bring some toiletries as there’s no shower gels and shampoos.

Due to our stay being when it was very hot, unfortunately, there wasn't a fan to use, which led to an uncomfortable nights sleep due to heat. Not enough plug sockets, especially to be able to use hairdryer near a mirror

Disappointing for what we paid

Location is great on the main road, close to restaurants, cafes and pubs. Friendly host.

very noisy on the road side if you have the window open (which is needed in Summer) as the room as no AC and no fan (we had loud people on the street outside at 01h30); had to use Public overnight parking with a bit of a walk (uphill) to the Lodge .. not an issue if you are fit and able. Parking was full on both occasions but fortunately a car left when we arrived; not sure where you would park if the public parking is full. Bathroom is pokey and the smallest shower I have probably ever had to negotiate; if you are a big guy you will not get into the shower; very small / narrow "double" bed.

Excellent spot to stay central in Ambleside with comfortable rooms!

The location was great. Easily walkable anywhere in town. Also, since I was running, I easily ran to the next town to check out other spots. Very nice bathroom, enjoyed having coffee in the room. Helpful staff.

The parking situation was a little far and crammed and my bag was quite heavy, but I managed. Wouldn’t deter me from coming back.
